Infection prevention & control remains a top concern in healthcare and the number one area for

regulatory citations. This session will include a review of current infection control standards, current

and new isolation standards (including enhanced barrier precautions), outbreak control practices,

communicable disease reporting guidelines and utilization of a QAPI approach to improve quality

of care and reduce rehospitalizations based on data driven outcomes. In addition, participants will

receive useful tools and guidance to help them comply with these recent regulatory changes and

prepare for a successful survey outcome.

• Review regulatory standards and top deficiency areas related to infection prevention and control

• Describe a model for infection prevention and control that is compliant with the RoP (F880)

• Recognize the components of an effective Antibiotic Stewardship program (F881)

• Identify specific tools/resources to enhance the SNF current infection control plan and how to sustain the program using data and QAPI

• Establish action items to develop your own infection prevention and control program
