Charismatic Renewal Quarterly Charismatic Renewal at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Orangefield on

Third Age Day Celebration The 26th Annual Third Age Day Celebration will be at

Immaculate Conception Church and Hall, 4100 Lincoln @ Washington in Groves on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. All who

are 50 or older are invited to attend this diocesan-wide celebration for seniors. The day’s events include Mass with

Bishop Guillory, a living rosary prior to Mass, lunch, fellowship, entertainment and door prized. Registration

will begin at 8:00am, the rosary will start at 9:15am, Mass at 10:00am and lunch will follow Mass. Tickets for the

luncheon are $12 each and are available through Catholic Charities office, 2780 Eastex Frwy, Beaumont. For

Note from Pastor: Congratulations to the 25 teens from Infant Jesus, Holy Spirit, and St. Mark’s, who will be confirmed this weekend by Bishop Guillory at the 9am Mass at St. Mark’s. Confirmation is the completion of the sacraments of initiation. It fully equips a Christian with the gifts of the Holy Spirit to live a life of courageous Christian discipleship in the world. In their two years of preparation, our confirmandi have demonstrated the desire to commit their lives to Christ and his Church. Thanks to all who work with our teens, especially our program directors Joan Garza (Infant Jesus), Virginia Fischer (Holy Spirit), and Kathy Watson (St. Mark’s) as well as all who teach in our religious education programs. Welcome and thanks also to all of our confirmation sponsors. Your commitment to model the faith for our new confirmandi will be a critical element in helping them along the path of salvation. All are invited to the confirmation Mass and to the reception following, prepared by our St. Mark’s Ladies’ altar society. We are also happy to welcome Bishop Guillory to our community again. In his years as our shepherd he has been a true pastor for our youth, and I know those receiving confirmation this weekend will be inspired by his presence and his words. “Confirmation… is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, # 1316).
