WELCOME! FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, SARAH BECK

There is a meaningful quote from “The Hill We Climb,” by Amanda Gorman, that embodies the essence of what our students are doing onstage today:

“We will raise this wounded world into a wondrous one”

This captures the spirit of what inspired Dr. Suzuki to bring joy to children through music over 70 years ago. This personifies what our teachers do each week in lessons and classes. This epitomizes the dedication each Suzuki parent has to helping their child develop admirable character. This exemplifies the impact each Suzuki child has when they play for someone–creating awe and wonder for anyone who listens and watches.

And if we continue to take each day to create little moments of wonder through music and kindness to others, we will raise this world into a wondrous one.

We couldn’t be more grateful for the strength of our community this year–for the support of our parents, for the leadership of our Board of Directors, for the generosity of our donors, and the dedication of our faculty. It is an honor to be part of this fine ISA community, and we thank you for the opportunity to serve in this way.

Sincerely,

Sarah BeckExecutive Director

The Indianapolis Suzuki Academy 3959 Central Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46205 | 317.296.5258 | IndySuzukiAcademy.org

Our mission is to nurture beautiful character in every child through excellence in music. Our vision is for every child to realize their potential.

Margot began violin lessons in the ISA as a 5 year old, first studying with Rachel Gries. Margot’s mother was also a Suzuki kid and had sought out a Suzuki program. Margot has participated in the ISA Chamber Music Program and the Chamber Music Program at Chicago Suzuki Institute. She has been a member of the Indianapolis Youth Orchestra for the last 6 years and also the North Central Symphony Orchestra, most recently as concertmaster of both. She performed in last year’s ISO Side-by-Side program and has enjoyed playing in the pit orchestras for several musicals. Margot has earned academic honors such as National Merit Semifinalist and Rising Stars of Indiana and will graduate as her senior class salutatorian from North Central High School in May. She plans to study both violin performance and engineering next year. Margot credits her current teacher, Candida Wiley, with always providing a positive and energetic approach to lessons and an endless supply of clever coaching techniques.

Aidan began learning the violin as a second grader, through an eight-week enrichment program offered through his school. The Suzuki-based program was taught by Ms. Sarah, and when it ended, Aidan wanted to keep playing the violin. Through the years Aidan has played in the community with various ensemble groups with the ISA, attended summer institutes, and participated in the strings/orchestra program at Greenfield-Central. In the fall Aidan plans to study chemistry or chemical engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and to continue playing the violin in the student orchestra.

Page 12: INDY SUZUKI ACADEMY PRESENTS: ANNUAL CONCERT

YOUR GIFT MAKES AN IMPACT! Generous gifts from donors help our Suzuki community grow & thrive. Tuition alone does not cover the cost of a Suzuki Education.

Your gifts during this time have allowed our community to:

– Expand into 1,850 square feet of open concept group class teaching space on the 2nd floor

– Provide faculty with supplies and tools necessary to return to in-person lessons

– Cover the costs and technology needs associated with offering meaningful online-only instruction for families who elected that option

– Continue to regularly maintain instruments (pianos) donated to the academy

– Convert an old break room into a teaching studio on the first floor

– Maintain our first floor studio space with a new coat of paint and updates to the first floor bathrooms

Thank you so much for helping the ISA nurture beautiful character in every child through excellence in music.
