Mission  Statement:    Industrial  Technology    The  Mission  of  the  Oskaloosa  Community  School  Industrial  Technology  Department  is  to  provide  opportunities  to  develop  and  enhance  the  knowledge  and  hands-­on  skills  needed  to  succeed  in  the  technology  workplace  and  to  foster  a  desire  for  lifelong  

learning.      

Course  Purposes    

Middle  School    Problem  Solving    Problem  Solving  students  will  utilize  the  design  process  to  participate  in  a  variety  of  hands-­‐on  projects.        Design  Concepts  Design  Concepts  students  will  use  a  variety  of  drafting  techniques  to  develop  and  construct  projects.    Construction  Technology  Construction  Technology  students  will  apply  basic  construction  principles  to  real-­‐life,  hands-­‐on  projects.    Material  Processing  Material  Processing  students  will  demonstrate  the  use  and  purpose  of  many  techniques  used  in  manufacturing  today.    

High  School    Mechanical  Drawing  Mechanical  Drawing  students  will  familiarize  themselves  with  the  common  drafting  instruments  in  a  variety  of  areas  of  drafting  along  with  an  introduction  to  AutoCAD.    Machine  Drawing  Machine  Drawing  students  will  acquire  a  working  knowledge  of  AutoCAD  in  2D  and  3D  modeling  formats.    Architectural  Drafting  Architectural  Drafting  students  will  complete  a  full  set  of  house  plans  of  his  or  her  choice  and  construct  a  scale  model  house  of  those  plans.    Drafting  1  Drafting  1  students  will  utilize  elementary  drafting  principles  used  by  drafters  everywhere.  

 Construction  Technology  I    Construction  Technology  I  students  will  apply  the  construction  practices  of  safety,  concrete,  masonry,  metals,  woods,  plastics,  framing,  thermal  and  moisture  protection,  doors  and  windows,  finishes,  electrical,  plumbing,  and  HVAC  through  the  construction  of  an  out  of  classroom  project.    Wood  Technology    Wood  Technology  students  will  explore  the  basic  concepts  of  Industrial  Technology  including  woodworking  machine  safety  and  operation  through  the  demonstration  of  skills  acquired  throughout  the  class.    Cabinet  Making    Cabinet  Making  students  will  construct  projects  using  advanced  methods  of  designing,  planning,  jointing,  cutting,  and  assembling  furniture  and  cabinets.      Construction  Technology  II    Construction  Technology  II  students  will  further  their  training  of  the  trades  and  explore  the  management  of  a  construction  jobsite.    Company  Management    Company  Management  students  will  explore  the  basic  principles  of  manufacturing  and  apply  knowledge  to  create  a  company  to  manufacture  and  market  a  product.    Introduction  to  CAD  Introduction  to  CAD  students,  with  the  information  learned  in  Drafting  1,  will  expand  their  knowledge  of  the  drafting  community  through  AutoCAD.    Material  Processing  Material  Processing  students  will  explore  the  manufacturing  and  processing  of  a  variety  of  materials.                                

 Problem  Solving  

 Course  Purpose  Problem  Solving  students  will  utilize  the  design  process  to  participate  in  a  variety  of  hands-­on  projects.          IT.PS.01:  Students  will  demonstrate  their  ability  to  measure.  IT.PS.01.01  Students  will  identify  all  increments  of  a  standard  inch  down  to  1/16th.  IT.PS.01.02  Students  will  demonstrate  their  ability  to  read  measurements  and  then  draw  those  measurements.  IT.PS.01.03  Students  will  estimate  object  dimensions  and  then  find  the  actual  dimensions.    IT.PS.02:  Students  will  demonstrate  basic  design  techniques  by  creating  a  variety  of  drawings.  IT.PS.02.01  Students  will  demonstrate  proper  use  and  maintenance  of  basic  drafting  equipment.  IT.PS.02.02  Students  will  explain  the  importance  of  doing  sketching  exercises  to  begin  bringing  ideas  to  fruition.  IT.PS.02.03  Students  will  develop  the  skills  necessary  to  begin  thinking  three  dimensionally.  IT.PS.02.04  Students  will  observe  and  duplicate  drawings  being  demonstrated.    IT.PS.03:  Students  will  apply  the  basic  design  process  by  completing  a  variety  of  classroom  projects.  IT.PS.03.01  Students  will  explain  the  importance  of  planning.  IT.PS.03.02  Students  will  participate  in  team  building  and  team  processes.  IT.PS.03.03  Students  will  demonstrate  the  design  process.  IT.PS.03.04  Students  will  create  and  evaluate  several  projects.  IT.PS.03.05  Students  will  participate  in  hands-­‐on  activities  to  demonstrate  understanding  of  basic  design  processes.                            

Design  Concepts

Course  Purpose  Construction  Technology  students  will  apply  basic  construction  principles  to  real-­life,  hands-­on  projects.      IT.CT.01:  Students  will  demonstrate  their  ability  to  measure  with  accuracy  within  1/16th  of  an  inch.  IT.CT.01.01  Students  will  identify  all  increments  of  a  standard  inch  down  to  1/16th.  IT.CT.01.02  Students  will  demonstrate  their  ability  to  use  a  tape  measure.  IT.CT.01.03  Students  will  estimate  object  dimensions  and  then  find  the  actual  dimension.  IT.CT.01.04  Students  will  demonstrate  their  ability  to  duplicate  measurement  for  layout  purposes.  IT.CT.01.05  Students  will  demonstrate  their  understanding  of  measurement  by  completing  a  building  project.      IT.CT.02:  Students  will  demonstrate  their  knowledge  and  ability  to  use  safe  shop  and  workplace  practices.  IT.CT.02.01  Students  will  use  tools  correctly  and  safely.  IT.CT.02.02  Students  will  monitor  safe  work  practices.  IT.CT.02.03  Students  will  explain  reasons  for  tool  safety  and  demonstrate  safety  in  workplace  practices.    IT.CT.03:  Students  will  apply  methods  used  to  complete  the  carpentry  for  a  construction  project.    IT.CT.03.01  Students  will  demonstrate  their  ability  to  layout  and  construct  a  floor  system.    IT.CT.03.02  Students  will  demonstrate  their  ability  to  layout  and  assemble  walls.  IT.CT.03.03  Students  will  design  and  assemble  trusses  using  a  jig.                                

Material  Processing  Course  Purpose  Materials  and  Processes  students  will  demonstrate  the  use  and  purpose  of  many  techniques  used  in  manufacturing  today.      IT.MP.01:  Students  will  demonstrate  the  proper  processes  and  procedures  used  to  produce  a  specified  metal  and  wood  product.  IT.MP.01.01  The  student  will  measure,  calculate  and  layout  precision  patterns.  IT.MP.01.02  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  storage  of  lab  tools.  IT.MP.01.03  The  student  will  identify  and  maintain  hand-­‐tools  for  a  specific  job.  IT.MP.01.04  The  student  will  interpret  and  use  prints,  charts,  diagrams,  tables  and  graphs.  IT.MP.01.05  The  student  will  demonstrate  material  forming  processes.    IT.MP.02:  Students  will  demonstrate  the  proper  procedures  of  forming  and  pouring  a  concrete  molding.  IT.MP.02.01  Students  will  measure,  calculate  and  blend  raw  materials.  IT.MP.02.02  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  storage  of  lab  tools.  IT.MP.02.03  The  student  will  demonstrate  material  forming  processes.    IT.MP.03:  Students  will  demonstrate  the  proper  procedures  to  produce  an  engraving  plate.  IT.MP.03.01  Students  will  measure  parts  using  precision  measurement  tools.  IT.MP.03.02  Students  will  measure,  calculate  and  layout  precision  patterns.  IT.MP.03.03  Student  will  demonstrate  ability  to  set-­‐up  and  operate  engraver.    IT.MP.04:  Students  will  demonstrate  the  proper  procedures  in  the  woodworking  process.  IT.MP.04.01  The  student  will  measure,  calculate  and  layout  precision  patterns.  IT.MP.04.02  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  storage  of  lab  tools.  IT.MP.04.03  The  student  will  identify  and  maintain  hand-­‐tools.  IT.MP.04.04  The  student  will  interpret  and  use  prints,  charts,  diagrams,  tables  and  graphs.  IT.MP.04.05  The  student  will  produce  a  functional  woodworking  project.                        

Mechanical  Drawing    

Course  Purpose  Mechanical  Drafting  students  will  familiarize  themselves  with  the  common  drafting  instruments  in  a  variety  of  areas  of  drafting  along  with  an  introduction  to  AutoCAD.      IT.Mech.01  Students  will  determine  which  careers  related  either  directly  or  indirectly  to  drafting  are  of  interest.  IT.Mech.01.01  Students  will  display  knowledge  of  careers  related  to  the  drafting  field.      IT.Mech.02  Students  will  acquire  the  knowledge  of  proper  use  of  pencil  type,  hardness,  and  techniques  used  for  various  lines  in  sketching.  IT.Mech.02.01  -­  The  student  will  identify  and  draw  the  various  line  types.    IT.Mech.02.02  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  correct  freehand  lettering  techniques.  IT.Mech.02.03  -­‐The  student  will  prepare  drawings/designs  using  appropriate  media  IT.Mech.02.04  -­‐  The  student  will  produce  sketches  proportionately  with  good  line  quality.    IT.Mech.03  The  student  will  explain  and  demonstrate  how  drafting  instruments  used  in  making  a  drawing.  IT.Mech.03.01  -­  The  student  will  use  and  maintain  basic  drafting  equipment  and  machines.  IT.Mech.03.02  -­‐  The  student  will  identify  and  draw  the  various  line  types.  IT.Mech.03.03  -­‐  The  student  will  prepare  drawings/designs  using  appropriate  media.    IT.Mech.04  The  student  will  demonstrate  the  proper  procedures  using    geometry  to  draw  several  polygons.  IT.Mech.04.01  -­  The  student  will  use  and  maintain  basic  drafting  equipment  and  machines.  IT.Mech.04.02  -­‐  The  student  will  perform  basic  geometric  constructions.  IT.Mech.04.03  -­‐  The  student  will  construct  geometric  shapes  (e.g.,  pentagon,hexagon,octagon).  IT.Mech.04.04  -­‐  The  students  will  solve  mathematical  problems  related  to  drafting  (e.g.,  conversions  of  units)    IT.Mech.05  The  student  will  demonstrate  the  proper  procedures  for  adding  dimensions  to  a  finished  drawing.  IT.Mech.05.01  -­  The  student  will  apply  basic  dimensioning  techniques.  IT.Mech.05.02  -­‐  The  students  will  solve  mathematical  problems  related  to  drafting

IT.Mach.05  The  student  will  determine  when  a  sectioned  drawing  is  required  and  which  view  would  be  the  best  to  be  sectioned.  IT.Mach.05.01–  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  CAD  equipment.  IT.Mach.05.02  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  how  to  reproduce  drawings  (e.g.,  blueprints  and  plots).  IT.Mach.05.03  -­‐  The  student  will  read  and  interpret  a  variety  of  drawings.  IT.Mach.05.04  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  proficiency  in  constructing  exploded    and  orthographic  assembly  drawings.  IT.Mach.05.05  –  The  student  will  construct  basic  sectional  views.    IT.Mach.06  The  student  will  be  able  to  compute,  draft,  and  use  a  conversion  chart  from  metric  to  English  units.  IT.Mach.06.01–  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  CAD  equipment.  IT.Mach.06.02  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  how  to  reproduce  drawings  (e.g.,  blueprints  and  plots).  IT.Mach.06.03  -­‐  The  student  will  read  and  interpret  a  variety  of  drawings.  IT.Mach.06.04  –  The  student  will  solve  mathematical  problems  related  to  drafting.    IT.Mach.07  Students  will  be  able  to  decide  when  an  auxiliary  view  is  needed  and  determine  which  view  should  have  the  auxiliary  and  from  what  angle  it  should  be  drawn.  IT.Mach.07.01–  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  CAD  equipment.  IT.Mach.07.02  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  how  to  reproduce  drawings  (e.g.,  blueprints  and  plots).  IT.Mach.07.03  -­‐  The  student  will  read  and  interpret  a  variety  of  drawings.  IT.Mach.07.04  –  The  student  will  solve  mathematical  problems  related  to  drafting.    IT.Mach.08  Student  will  produce  development  drawings  known  by  many  other  names,  such  as  stretch-­outs,  layouts,  sheet  metal  drafting.  IT.Mach.08.01–  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  CAD  equipment.  IT.Mach.0802  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  how  to  reproduce  drawings  (e.g.,  blueprints  and  plots).  IT.Mach.08.03  -­‐  The  student  will  read  and  interpret  a  variety  of  drawings.  IT.Mach.08.04  –  The  student  will  solve  mathematical  problems  related  to  drafting.    IT.Mach.09  Students  will  produce  perspective  drawings  showing  objects  from  a  one-­point  or  two-­point  perspective  show  more  than  one  surface  at  a  time.    IT.Mach.09.01–  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  CAD  equipment.  IT.Mach.09.02  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  how  to  reproduce  drawings  (e.g.,  blueprints  and  plots).  IT.Mach.09.03  -­‐  The  student  will  read  and  interpret  a  variety  of  drawings.

Architectural  Drafting    Course  Purpose  Architectural  Drafting  students  will  complete  a  full  set  of  house  plans  of  his  or  her  choice  and  construct  a  scale  model  house  of  those  plans.      IT.Arch.01  Students  will  display  knowledge  of  the  legal  aspects  and  terminology  associated  with  purchasing  a  house,  and  various  architectural  housing  styles.  IT.Arch.01.01  The  student  will  interpret  drafting  references  and  standards.  IT.Arch.01.02  The  student  will  develop  framing  plans  IT.Arch.01  .03  The  student  will  develop,  construct  and  dimension  a  residential  floor  plan  layout.  IT.Arch.01.04  The  student  will  produce  foundation/  basement  plans.                              IT.Arch.02  Students  will  identify  and  produce  a  cross-­section  of  the  below-­grade  parts  of  a  house  such  as  footings,  foundation  wall,  drain  tile,  crawl  space  or  basement,  reinforcing  rod,  termite  shield,  sill,  sill  plate.  IT.Arch.02.01  The  student  will  use  and  maintain  basic  drafting  equipment  and  machines.  IT.Arch.02.02  The  student  will  identify  and  draw  the  various  line  types.  IT.Arch.02.03  The  student  will  prepare  drawings/designs  using  appropriate  media.      IT.Arch.03  Students  will  produce  a  skeleton  view  of  a  corner  of  a  house  which  includes  a  door  and  window.  IT.Arch.03.01  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  CAD  equipment.  IT.Arch.03.02    The  student  will  identify  and  draw  the  various  line  types.  IT.Arch.03.03    The  student  will  demonstrate  proficiency  in  creating  two-­‐dimensional  CAD  drawings.    IT.Arch.04  Students  will  identify  and  produce  a  main  floor  plan  of  a  house  of  his/her  preference.  IT.Arch.04.01  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  CAD  equipment.  IT.Arch.04.02    The  student  will  identify  and  draw  the  various  line  type                    

IT.Arch.05  The  student  will  demonstrate  the  proper  procedures  for  producing  additional  plans  for  a  second  level  or  basement.  IT.Arch.05.01-­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  CAD  equipment.  IT.Arch.05.02  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  how  to  reproduce  drawings  (e.g.,  blueprints  and  plots).  IT.Arch.05.03  -­‐  The  student  will  read  and  interpret  a  variety  of  drawings.  IT.Arch.05.04  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  proficiency  in  creating  two-­‐dimensional  CAD  drawings  IT.Arch.05.05  -­‐    The  student  will  construct  an  architectural  presentation  drawing  with  site  plan,  floor  plans,  building  elevations  and  wall  sections.    IT.Arch.06  Students  will  produce  a  set  of  elevation  drawings  of  the  exterior  of  their  previously  selected  house.  IT.Arch.06.01-­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  CAD  equipment.  IT.Arch.06.02  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  how  to  reproduce  drawings  (e.g.,  blueprints  and  plots).  IT.Arch.06.03  -­‐  The  student  will  read  and  interpret  a  variety  of  drawings.  IT.Arch.06.04  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  proficiency  in  creating  two-­‐dimensional  CAD  drawings  IT.Arch.06.05  -­‐  The  student  will  construct  an  architectural  presentation  drawing  with  site  plan,  floor  plans,  building  elevations  and  wall  sections.    IT.Arch.07  Students  will  produce  a  plot  plan  (bird's  eye  view)  of  the  lot  and  the  way  the  house  sets  on  it.  IT.Arch.07.01-­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  CAD  equipment.  IT.Arch.07.02  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  how  to  reproduce  drawings  (e.g.,  blueprints  and  plots).  IT.Arch.07.03  -­‐  The  student  will  read  and  interpret  a  variety  of  drawings.  IT.Arch.07.04  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  proficiency  in  creating  two-­‐dimensional  CAD  drawings  IT.Arch.07.05  -­‐    The  student  will  construct  an  architectural  presentation  drawing  with  site  plan,  floor  plans,  building  elevations  and  wall  sections.                        

IT.Arch.08  Student  will  be  able  to  produce  a  two-­point  perspective  of  the  exterior  of  their  previously  selected  house.  When  finished,  the  house  will  look  as  realistic  as  possible.  IT.Arch.08.01-­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  CAD  equipment.  IT.Arch.08.02  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  how  to  reproduce  drawings  (e.g.,  blueprints  and  plots). IT.Arch.08.03  -­‐  The  student  will  read  and  interpret  a  variety  of  drawings.  IT.Arch.08.04  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  proficiency  in  creating  two-­‐dimensional  CAD  drawings  IT.Arch.08.05  -­‐  The  student  will  construct  an  architectural  presentation  drawing  with  site  plan,  floor  plans,  building  elevations  and  wall  sections.    IT.Arch.09  Students  will  select  an  interior  room  of  their  previously  selected  house  and  produce  a  one-­point  perspective  of  that  room.    After  the  room  is  drawn  the  student  must  render  or  shade  it.  IT.Arch.09.01-­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  proper  care  and  maintenance  of  CAD  equipment.  IT.Arch.09.02  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  how  to  reproduce  drawings  (e.g.,  blueprints  and  plots).  IT.Arch.09.03  -­‐  The  student  will  read  and  interpret  a  variety  of  drawings.  IT.Arch.09.04  -­‐  The  student  will  demonstrate  proficiency  in  creating  two-­‐dimensional  CAD  drawings  IT.Arch.09.05  -­‐  The  student  will  construct  an  architectural  presentation  drawing  with  site  plan,  floor  plans,  building  elevations  and  wall  sections.    IT.Arch.10.01  Students  will  determine  which  careers  related  either  directly  or  indirectly  to  drafting  are  of  interest.  IT.Arch.10.01.01  Students  will  display  knowledge  of  careers  related  to  the  drafting  field.

Introduction  to  CAD

Material  Processes

Construction  Technology  I    

Course  Purpose  Construction  Technology  I  students  will  apply  the  construction  practices  of  safety,  concrete,  masonry,  metals,  woods,  plastics,  framing,  thermal  and  moisture  protection,  doors  and  windows,  finishes,  electrical,  plumbing,  and  HVAC  through  the  construction  of  an  out  of  classroom  project.      IT.CT.01  Students  will  demonstrate  the  basic  safety  and  safety  operating  procedures  necessary  for  a  construction  project.  IT.CT.01.01  Students  will  comply  with  shop  and  equipment  safety  rules.  IT.CT.01.02  Students  will  inspect  workplaces  for  safe  working  environment  and  report  unsafe  conditions.  IT.CT.01.03  Students  will  correct  safety  hazards.  IT.CT.01.04  Students  will  clean  and  maintain  work  area  and  leave  in  safe  condition.  IT.CT.01.05  Students  will  implement  and  comply  with  OSHA  job  site  safety  rules.                        IT.CT.02  Students  will  demonstrate  the  process  and  activities  that  must  be  completed  to  prepare  a  site  for  construction.  IT.CT.02.01  Students  will  establish  elevation  reference  points  from  benchmark.  IT.CT.02.02  Students  will  establish  footing  grades.  IT.CT.02.03  Students  will  locate  and  square  corners.  IT.CT.02.04  Students  will  install  batter  boards.  IT.CT.02.05  Students  will  set  grade  stakes.  IT.CT.02.06  Students  will  lay  out  a  building  using  transit.    IT.CT.03  Students  will  demonstrate  the  process  and  activities  and  apply  methods  that  are  used  to  complete  the  concrete  for  a  construction  project.  IT.CT.03.01  Students  will  explain  all  components  of  preparing  foundations  and  footings.  IT.CT.03.01  Students  will  build  forms  for  concrete  including  the  erection  of  wall  forms  to  include  anchor  bolts,  bulkheads  and  key-­‐way  on  appropriate  footing.  IT.CT.03.01  Students  will  pour,  screed  and  finish  concrete.  IT.CT.03.01  Students  will  strip  and  clean  forms.  IT.CT.03.01  Students  will  demonstrate  appropriate  handling  and  placing  techniques.    IT.CT.04  Students  will  construct  and  apply  methods  that  are  used  to  complete  the  carpentry  for  a  construction  project.  IT.CT.04.01  Students  will  identify  parts  of  a  stair  and  compute  rise,  run,  and  headroom.  

IT.CT.04.01  Students  will  rough  in  wall,  roof,  and  floor  systems.  IT.CT.04.01  Students  will  install  prefab  truss  and  rafter  roof  system.  IT.CT.04.01  Students  will  lay  out  structural  members  on  center.    IT.CT.05  Students  will  install  the  components  that  that  are  needed  for  thermal  and  moisture  protection.  IT.CT.05.01  Students  will  identify  the  sidewall  and  ceiling  insulation,  vapor  barriers,  ventilation  and  air  infiltration.  IT.CT.05.02  Students  will  identify  types  of  roofing  systems  including  common  standards  associated  with  roofing  (i.e.,  flashing,  penetrations,  and  installation).  IT.CT.05.03  Students  will  install  insulation.  IT.CT.05.04  Students  will  observe  appropriate  waterproofing  and  drainage  procedures.    IT.CT.06  Students  will  apply  the  basic  techniques  for  plumbing,  electrical,  and  mechanical  systems.  IT.CT.06.01  Students  will  splice  wire  correctly.  IT.CT.06.02  Students  will  wire  and  diagram  the  following  switching  arrangements:  3-­‐way  switching;  single  pole  switching;  and  duplex  receptacle.  IT.CT.06.03  Students  will  identify  and  explain  ground  fault  protection.  IT.CT.06.04  Students  will  identify  types  and  sizes  of  wire.  IT.CT.06.05  Students  will  observe  the  installation  and  connection  of  an  electrical  service  entrance  and  breaker  box.  IT.CT.06.06  Students  will  explain  the  difference  between  the  components  and  operation  of  the  following  HVAC  systems:  steam,  hot  water,  forced  air  and  unit  ventilation,  air  conditioning,  and  solar  systems.  IT.CT.06.07  Students  will  explain  the  installation  of  water  faucet  and  water  closet  replacement.  IT.CT.06.08  Students  will  identify  the  plumbing  system  in  a  structure  (i.e.,  ventilation,  sewer,  potable  water,  etc.).        IT.CT.07  Students  will  carry  out  the  methods  used  to  put  the  final  touches  on  a  construction  project.  IT.CT.07.01  Students  will  observe  appropriate  mortar  mixing  techniques,  layout,  and  bonding  of  masonry  walls.  IT.CT.07.02  Students  will  measure  and  cut  flashing,  siding,  soffit,  and  trim.  IT.CT.07.03  Students  will  miter  and  install  molding  trim.  IT.CT.07.04  Students  will  install  cabinetry  and  casework.  IT.CT.07.05  Students  will  install  pre-­‐hung  door  and  precased  window.  IT.CT.07.06  Students  will  demonstrate  appropriate  techniques  for  installing  and  finishing  drywall.  IT.CT.07.07  Students  will  identify  various  floor-­‐covering  options.        

     

Wood  Technology    

Course  Purpose  Wood  Technology  students  will  explore  the  basic  concepts  of  Industrial  Technology  including  woodworking  machine  safety  and  operation  through  the  demonstration  of  skills  acquired  throughout  the  class.      IT.WT.01  Students  will  apply  the  basic  safety  and  operating  procedures  necessary  for  a  construction  project.  IT.WT.01.01  Students  will  comply  with  shop  and  equipment  safety  rules.  IT.WT.01.01  Students  will  inspect  workplaces  for  safe  working  environment  and  report  unsafe  conditions.  IT.WT.01.01  Students  will  correct  safety  hazards.  IT.WT.01.01  Students  will  clean  and  maintain  work  area  and  leave  in  safe  condition.  IT.WT.01.01  Students  will  implement  and  comply  with  OSHA  job  site  safety  rules.                        IT.WT.02  Students  will  apply  the  basic  background  knowledge  required  for  entry  into  the  construction  industry.  IT.WT.02.01  Students  will  cut  material  to  specified  dimensions  and  shape.  IT.WT.02.02  Students  will  install  and  remove  fasteners  properly.  IT.WT.02.03  Students  will  measure  and  compute  using  fractions  and  decimals.    IT.WT.03  Students  will  demonstrate  the  basic  sequence  of  procedures  necessary  for  a  construction  project.    IT.WT.03.01  Students  will  receive,  inspect,  inventory,  stack,  and  properly  store  equipment,  materials,  and  supplies  on-­‐site.  IT.WT.03.02  Students  will  interpret  a  materials  list.  IT.WT.03.03  Students  will  compute  the  quantity  of  commonly  used  materials.  IT.WT.03.04  Students  will  identify  parts  and  materials.                            

     

Cabinet  Making    

Course  Purpose  Cabinet  Making  students  will  construct  projects  using  advanced  methods  of  designing,  planning,  jointing,  cutting,  and  assembling  furniture  and  cabinets.        IT.CM.01  Students  will  apply  the  basic  safety  and  operating  procedures  necessary  for  a  construction  project.  IT.CM.01.01  Comply  with  shop  and  equipment  safety  rules.  IT.CM.01.02  Inspect  workplaces  for  safe  working  environment  and  report  unsafe

     IT.CT.05  Students  will  install  the  components  that  that  are  needed  for  thermal  and  moisture  protection.  IT.CT.05.01  Students  will  identify  the  sidewall  and  ceiling  insulation,  vapor  barriers,  ventilation  and  air  infiltration.  IT.CT.05.02  Students  will  identify  types  of  roofing  systems  including  common  standards  associated  with  roofing  (i.e.,  flashing,  penetrations,  and  installation).  IT.CT.05.03  Students  will  install  insulation.  IT.CT.05.04  Students  will  observe  appropriate  waterproofing  and  drainage  procedures.    IT.CT.06  Students  will  apply  the  basic  techniques  for  plumbing,  electrical,  and  mechanical  systems.  IT.CT.06.01  Students  will  splice  wire  correctly.  IT.CT.06.02  Students  will  wire  and  diagram  the  following  switching  arrangements:  3-­‐way  switching;  single  pole  switching;  and  duplex  receptacle.  IT.CT.06.03  Students  will  identify  and  explain  ground  fault  protection.  IT.CT.06.04  Students  will  identify  types  and  sizes  of  wire.  IT.CT.06.05  Students  will  observe  the  installation  and  connection  of  an  electrical  service  entrance  and  breaker  box.  IT.CT.06.06  Students  will  explain  the  difference  between  the  components  and  operation  of  the  following  HVAC  systems:  steam,  hot  water,  forced  air  and  unit  ventilation,  air  conditioning,  and  solar  systems.  IT.CT.06.07  Students  will  explain  the  installation  of  water  faucet  and  water  closet  replacement.  IT.CT.06.08  Students  will  identify  the  plumbing  system  in  a  structure  (i.e.,  ventilation,  sewer,  potable  water,  etc.).        IT.CT.07  Students  will  carry  out  the  methods  used  to  put  the  final  touches  on  a  construction  project.  IT.CT.07.01  Students  will  observe  appropriate  mortar  mixing  techniques,  layout,  and  bonding  of  masonry  walls.  IT.CT.07.02  Students  will  measure  and  cut  flashing,  siding,  soffit,  and  trim.  IT.CT.07.03  Students  will  miter  and  install  molding  trim.  IT.CT.07.04  Students  will  install  cabinetry  and  casework.  IT.CT.07.05  Students  will  install  pre-­‐hung  door  and  precased  window.  IT.CT.07.06  Students  will  demonstrate  appropriate  techniques  for  installing  and  finishing  drywall.  IT.CT.07.07  Students  will  identify  various  floor-­‐covering  options.          

               

 Company  Management  

 Course  Purpose  Company  Management  students  will  explore  the  basic  principles  of  manufacturing  and  apply  knowledge  to  create  a  company  to  manufacture  and  market  a  product.
