infrastructure and military installations. Core competencies are industrial coatings and

Abhe & Svoboda is headquartered in Jordan, Minnesota with regional offices in California,
Connecticut, and Hawaii. We have performed work in virtually every U.S. State and

Organization Qualifications
SSPC CERTIFIED QP1, QP2 AND QS1 CONTRACTOR Abhe & Svoboda is a member of the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC). Abhe &
Svoboda is a SSPC QP1, QP2, and QS1 certified contractor.
Abhe & Svoboda is one of the select contractors who has surpassed the rigorous review by
the SSPC of our organization and received the SSPC QS1 Advanced Quality Management
System qualification from SSPC.
We hold the SSPC QP1 Painting Contractor Certification, which must be renewed annually
and verifies that our company has met or exceeded the requirements set forth in the SSPC
Painting Contractor Certification Program for the field applications of coatings to complex
structures. Additionally, we hold the SSPC QP2 Industrial Hazardous Paint Removal
qualification, which is an annual qualification review performed by the SSPC to determine
if the contractor possesses the necessary experience and understanding to safely remove
lead based coatings from structures and remain in full compliance with all current
regulations.

INTERNAL AUDITING
Internal auditing is critical for managing
and measuring the effectiveness of the
Quality Management System and for
identifying areas for improvement
opportunity. Audits are conducted by
American Society for Quality (ASQ)
trained auditors. The Internal Audit
program helps Abhe & Svoboda meet
customer requirements and continually
improve and assure conformance with
company and external standards.
QUALITY CONTROL COMMITTEE
The Corporate Quality Committee is
composed of senior executives and top
level management responsible for
managing quality improvement activities
within the company. The group makes
key decisions regarding how quality
should be measured and what
approaches should be used to improve
quality. They identify barriers that could
impede the implementation of the QMS
and devise methods for eliminating those
barriers. The Committee reviews status
of the QMS and makes adjustments to
ensure customer satisfaction and
continuous improvement.
CERTIFIED COATINGS INSPECTORS
We have experienced NACE Certified Coatings Inspectors on staff to perform coatings quality control inspections. Most QC Inspectors are Level III certified and hold additional certifications as well.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (QMS) We have implemented an ISO 9001 compliant Quality Management System and have
obtained SSPC QS1 certification (Standard Procedure for Evaluating a Contractor’s
Advanced Quality Management System). SSPC QS1 certification requires participating
contractors to implement and document more stringent ISO 9001 compliant quality
control and record-keeping procedures than those included in the SSPC QP1. However,
unlike ISO 9001 certification, QS1 provides the facility owner with the dual benefit of a
coatings-industry specific QMS model for contractors who have the operational capability
required by QP1 plus the ISO compliant QMS detailed in QS1.
We are committed to the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the QMS and
monitor the effectiveness of the QMS by planned audits, management reviews, and
effective corrective and preventive action.
CRAFT WORKER ASSESSMENT PROGRAM Abhe & Svoboda has developed and implemented a Craft Worker Assessment program to
train, qualify, and assess personnel to ensure owners receive a quality project performed
by professional craft workers. Key elements of the program include initial and ongoing
training, and the evaluation of employee skills to verify they are qualified to perform
assigned tasks prior to the start of work. Our employees receive structured on-the-job and
classroom training in surface preparation, coating application, inspection procedures and
products utilized. The program applies to all craft workers including: existing employees;
newly hired craft workers; and trainees and apprentices.

Carboline, Tnemec, Sherwin Williams, International Protective Coatings, Premier Coating
Systems, Raven Linings, Global EcoTechnologies Coatings and a variety of others. It has
applied production quantities of plural component epoxy / polyurethane coatings, rust
penetrating sealers, and many zinc, epoxy, polyurethane type coating systems, which
applications have been primarily on tanks, towers, bridges, pipelines, and water control
structures in marine environments.

SAFETY
It is our philosophy that safety, quality, and productivity complement each other rather
than interfere with one another. Our management team and corporate structure is
established to provide our employees and clients with quality project execution and a safe
working environment.
CORPORATE SAFETY COMMITTEE The Corporate Safety Committee’s mission is to create, promote, and maintain a safe and
healthy work environment for all Abhe & Svoboda employees, subcontractors, clients and
the communities where we work.
Composed of top level management, senior executives and professional safety personnel,
the committee provides a formal structure through which employees and management
can funnel suggestions and concerns about safety and health issues. The committee
meets monthly to discuss accidents, safety policies, safe work practices, and other safety
and health related issues. Upon review, the committee recommends solutions and
develops plans which are then implemented company-wide. Committee members also
serve as a conduit for the communication of safety information between
departments/jobsites to promote employee awareness, commitment, and participation in
safety issues.
SAFETY TRAINED SUPERVISORS (STS) Abhe & Svoboda is committed to safety training. Along with a small handful of other
industry leaders, we are a sponsor of the Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification from
the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).
According to BCSP, the STS certification provides a means for employers to verify safety
and health knowledge of first-line supervisors and managers. The program requires
applicants to meet minimum education and experience requirements and
demonstrate knowledge of basic safety and health standards and practices.
