UNIT 3 outcome 1 Analysis and practice in context

You only really understand something when you can explain it to someone else, so that they understand…

Industrial design drawings

Why are you doing this? To develop skills in the use of drawing methods to visualise ideas and concepts – Observational, Visualisation, Presentation drawing To create industrial design drawings two-dimensional: orthogonal drawing, and paraline: isometric appropriate to audience, contexts and ,in particular for different PURPOSES To learn methods of converting visualisation of two-dimensional representation to three-dimensional representation drawing and the reverse To gain knowledge of technical drawing conventions appropriate for specified purposes, including layout, dimensions, labels, symbols and lines

Task….. Produce Industrial design drawings for different PURPOSES Analyse existing industrial design Explain the link between your drawings and the analysis

Assessment Present: Your drawings and analysis and evaluation in a named plastic folio

Submit: 1. Annotated analysis of product 2. Page of visualisation drawings from a designer’s

sketchbook 3. Observational Isometric drawings 4. Dimensioned orthogonal drawing 5. Explanation of how the drawings helped your

analysis

Deadline:

TUESDAY 19ST FEB

Page 2: INDUSTRIAL DESIGN TASK

Task 1 Observational drawings Produce drawings from observation that provide:

Depiction of the product from different viewpoints

What it would look like pulled apart (if it can be pulled apart

How it would be used

Task 2 Visualisation drawings Produce a page of visualisation drawings from a designer’s sketchbook What ideas and decisions cold have been made in the design of the product?

Task 3 Presentation drawings Produce a scaled isometric drawing Produce a dimensioned Orthogonal drawing

Task 4 Complete an analysis (mind map) and explanation of how the drawings helped your analysis
