Eklavya
Can Sania and Uma be in the same class?
India is the world’s largest
democracy and one of the fastest growing nations in the world
While we are making strides in many areas,
we still lack behind in many more
We have some great policies but fall behind due to poor implementation
How long can we continue to wait for the government to deliver?
It's time to take ownership of our problems
Indus Action is striving hard to bridge the policy implementation gap
by bringing in innovative ideas to build scalable models
Last year we ran a successful pilot campaign and understood the ground reality
This year Project Eklavya aims to make atleast 10k applications from all over Delhi to fill the 25% free
seats under RTE Section 12
Let us try to understand the problem first
25% seats in all private schools are available for free for economically weak and disadvantaged kids*
but less than 10% eligible families are aware of it
to solve this we just need to provide Right Information to the Right Person and at the Right Time
Indus Action cannot reach every eligible family on its own
but together we can
The only question remains
We have identified not one but three easy ways
1) Reaching out low income housing communities
2) Engaging their employers
3) Empowering high income individuals
Model 1
Seeking partners in every low
income community in
Delhi
and bringing like minded people together to form a coalition
to engage them to become community champions
and identify information hubs to spread awareness
to ensure that every parent is aware of of their child’s right to education and the procedures to realize it
Model 2
Engaging the employers
and encouraging them to support their employees
by sharing relevant information and providing backend support
Model 3
Empowering the individuals
You sign up as as a Champion
and get all the necessary information on the go
Tell your domestic help, driver, cook,
dhobi etc. about RTE Section 12
and support eligible parents to submit application
For all the three models, Indus Action provides
Necessary information easy access continuous
support
What happens after all this?
The families submit their application and the schools conducts lottery
The kids get admission to some of the best schools
they rise and shine to make the nation proud
All champions build leadership and citizenship potential
This way we have collectively solved the problem
and the world sees a unique example of Participatory Democracy
