We have a home campus but this is self managed learning so a lot happens at a distance. Everyone will have an academic adviser to help.

A liberal estimate of the time it will take during the 12 week study periods The hours you ‘study’ are added to what you are already doing for your professional practice (work – paid or unpaid). Schedule this into your own diary as study time so that the work can fit around your other jobs.

We work with social media and digital media with few paper copies (submission is in digital form) . Deadlines for drafts and final work are important.

Sites of interest and sharing list…

We have a list of Skype addresses up on the open MyLearning BAPP Arts site but if you want to share emails you need to say okay to that for the sharing list…

Watch your emails for the permission for this list to go round…

You know more than you think… knowledge often has to be put into context to be useful to practitioners… so ‘knowing’ relates to what you think and what you do…

When you log into the student portal you will see a sign that says ‘My Study’. Click on this and it will bring up your ‘programme of study’. Then by Clicking on your Modules you will be taken to another screen. (this section was done by Lizzy Rowden our Student Rep from 13-14!)

Page 13: Induction bapp arts 22.9.14

This screen is where you can access your handbooks and Calendar. There is a blue tab on the left hand side that contains different links. Paula has put important dates in this calendar so it is good to check. It also helps with what week of study we are in.

Page 14: Induction bapp arts 22.9.14

The highlighted dates will be anything that Paula has put into the calendar. Campus sessions will appear in here.

1. Keep in contact and update your programme leader and advisers with your correct contact details.

2. Aimee Tallon is the MyLearning administrator and is also helping with student cards.

3. Students cards should be processed for this module so that you will have them when you need them.

4. We need a new student representative for BAPP Arts. Please work with this volunteer and other peers to help us improve the programme.

1. BAPP Arts feedback forms are at the end of the Modules you take. The form will most likely be on Survey Monkey. We value feedback and have used your feedback in our planning of the new curriculum for BAPP Arts.

Some administrative points for BAPP (Arts)

Page 17: Induction bapp arts 22.9.14

RoL has fewer campus sessions because much of the learning is based on past experiences and is done individually – but you can start a blog if you want to talk to the community…

Assessment is clearly outlined in the Programme Handbook & Module Handbooks. Assessment this term is due to be submitted 8th January 2015.

Page 18: Induction bapp arts 22.9.14

Our assessment is linked to university guidelines:http://www.mdx.ac.uk/aboutus/Strategy/regulations/gradecriteriaguide.aspx

The Readers are there to support your learning and to challenge you. They are not there as just ‘content’ to learn… but are there to get you thinking about your professional practice.

Expectations are that your work will be of a high standard and your learning will be self-managed. Dedicated support is available from your adviser, the BAPP Arts team, and the university staff.

Peer blogs – these can be about what you want to put up (tasks help with this but you can go beyond them)

Page 21: Induction bapp arts 22.9.14

Tutor blogs sometimes have helpful advice – follow them and make comments so that online conversations can happen…

A good example of a ‘final’ blog after Module 3

Check out archived blogs from past alumni to give you ideas - these might still be upon the Libguide at the start of 14-15 – a wealth of material!!!
