LATITUDE

To find the Latitude, using the parallel rulers, we must first make sure they arehorizontal to the chart.

In this case the bottom edge can be lined up with the 52° 55’ line going across the chart.

Holding the top section of the rulers the bottom edge is now moved down until itreaches the plot.

LONGITUDE

Without moving the rulers, the dividers are now placed against these with one point on theparallel line of 1° 30’. The other point is opened to the plot position.

The dividers are now moved along the line to the bottom (or top) of the chart and theLongitude minutes read.

The reading is 32.5 minutes. The full Longitude is therefore 001° 32.5’ EThe 0930 plot on a Bearing of 070° and distance of 4’ is now converted to
