Content...save space & costsEnergy Chains® vs. Festoon or Bus Bar systems
lSpace saving constructionl A loop station is not necessary, the trolley is able to
run the full beam lengthl No hanging cable loopsl Energy Chain Systems® reduces cable lengths by
more than 50% (center feeding)l Energy Chain Systems® protect the cables from
any external mechanical stress, i.e. uncontrolled whipping, swinging, etc.
l Easy and quick to assemblel Short cable length, especially for Bus and fiber
optics systems
l All types of media can be guided (power cables, control cables, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.)
l Low maintenance necessity will reduce crane downtimes
l Quick and easy installation of additional cablesl Energy Chain Systems® have been tested to perform
at trolley speeds up to 32.8 ft/sl Energy Chain Systems® make travels up to 2,642 ft.
possiblel Synchronous run of trolley and Energy Chain

Heavy Duty Energy Chains®
Crane travelCrossbars are removable along both radii, saves time installing and dismantling
Expanded gliding surface, expanded stop-dog surface and bigger pin/bore surface compared to classic E4/4 series
Available with hinged, snap-open removable lids along outer radius of Energy Tube; closed and open designs can be combined
Highly secure double lock
Cable friendly, wide rounded crossbars
Lateral glide surfaces for side-mounted operation
High torsion stability
The Heavy Duty Energy Chains® were developed to help accommodate:l High cable loadslHigh speedslLong travel lengths
The improved E4/4 Heavy Duty takes cable carrier stability to new levels.
Strength and cycle life are improved by significantly increased gliding and load bearing surfaces.
E4/4 Heavy Duty takes higher push/pull forces at the same inner dimensions as regular E4/4 series.

Special solutions for cranesFor unsupported lengths: Horizontal Guidelok up to 164 ft.
Especially for long travels on indoor applications, igus® Guidelok is a cost-effective solution.1. Debris and dirt cannot get lodged between upper and lower
run. Ideal for dusty environments 2. Modular system with few parts (also possible without side-
ways trough)3. Increase of self-supporting length of Energy Chains®
4. Save energy with smaller Energy Chains® and self-supporting rollers
l Smaller Energy Chains® for any given self supporting lengthl Lower cost than most steel chains or sophisticated gliding systemsl Open guide trough design, chips can fall through
How it works
The Energy Chain® is guided in the trough channel, pushing back the spring loaded roller support with its radius.
...the upper run then gets to lay on the roller support.
...which snaps back out again after the Energy Chain® radius has passed.
Circular movements and RBR applicationsRBR applications with a reverse bending radius have become anindustry standard. igus® supports this standard for cranes with RBR Energy Chains®.l For twisting crane applicationsl Customized metal guide troughs and plates availablel Large range of accessories available
For circular movements: Energy Chains® with RBR

Guide troughsSteel guide troughs
Long travel with igus® steel guide troughs and a harnessed Energy Chain® in a crane application
Steel guide trough - very stable and rugged for heavy duty applicationsIf the igus® installation sets are used, the guide troughs are particularly easy to assemble. All the steel guide troughs are constructed according to the same basic principle. All sizes use a common profile rail on which the guide parts are assembled. The assembly brackets used vary in height only.lEasy assembly with installation setlBig range, two piece design, adjustable to Energy Chain® widthlAvailable in galvanized steel and stainless steellGlide bar made of PE
Guide troughs are used in long travels according to chain type from 16.4 to 39.4 ft. They support the smooth, low-friction operation of the igus® Energy Chain® and Energy Tubes. The infeed point is at the center of the travel, and the Energy Chain® glides by itself on one half of the travel. For the other half, we recommend glide bars mounted in the trough, on which the Energy Chain® glides. igus® guide troughs have glide bars made of extremely abrasion-resistant plastic igulen (exception RS - gliding partner steel).
Even in dusty environments: Energy Chain® trough in slack yard crane

Guide troughsSnap-in trough system SP - simple and cost-effective
Economically priced, simple guide optionsigus® snap-in trough systems are simple and favorably priced options to safely guide Energy Chains®. Recommended for less demanding applications and applications with travel speeds below 6.56 ft/s, as well as travel distances below 164 ft. The crucial advantage of the igus® insert trough is the low price and the very simple and fast installation.lSmaller than conventional troughslEasy and fast assemblylNo sharp metal edges in the internal area because of covered connectorslLow price and easy to assemble
igus® Energy Chain® with trough system Rol E-Chain® 5050HD in super aluminum guide trough needs 75% less drive force.
