    ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE PARTICIPANTS OFTHE 2013 INDONESIAN ARTS AND CULTURE SCHOLARSHIP

    No. 15321/DM/05/2013/54

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia is pleased to announce its participantsfor the 2013 Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship. Participants are chosen on the basis ofacademic and professional background, gender, regional representation and the interest to learnIndonesian culture. A list of the names of the applicants who were offered the scholarship hasbeen selected. Applicantswho have not been offered the scholarship will not appear on a list andwill not be notified.

    I. The 2013 Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship Regular Program

    The scholarship is presented this year to talented young people from 44 countries, namely:Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Denmark, Fiji Islands, France, Germany,Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kiribati, Lao PDR, Morocco,

    Myanmar, Nauru, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Niue, Norway, The Philippines, Papua NewGuinea, Poland, Russia, Samoa, South Korea, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Suriname,Thailand, Tonga, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Vietnam.

    In order to deepen the awardees understanding of Indonesian arts and culture, awardees will bedivided and assigned to different arts centers located in Bandung, West Java; Denpasar, Bali;Makassar, South Sulawesi; Solo, Central Java; Surabaya, East Java. Awardees will live within oraround the arts center, allowing for the chance to experience the local heritage and interact withthe local community.

    II. The 2013 Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship Special Program: IndonesianStudies for Indonesian Diaspora

    The theme of the program is IndonesianStudies for Indonesian Diaspora, therefore itserves tointroduce the new Indonesia to the young generation of Indonesian Diaspora abroad. The programwill provide knowledge about Indonesian national language, as well as the latest condition ofIndonesian diversity, politics, economics, social culture, democracy, and local wisdoms.

    The participants from 10 countries, such as Australia, Germany, Italy, French New Caledonia,Russia, the Netherlands, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, South Africa andSuriname will learns about the new Indonesia in one of universities in Yogyakarta. Synergybetween theory and practices shared inside and outside the learning centre would undoubtedlybecome the driving force for shaping international cultures and norms, and will eventuallystrengthen understanding and cooperation at a people-to-people level.
