Mr. G.P.Patel, Managing Director, UJVNL gets “Indira Gandhi Sewa Ratna Award 2012" Mr. G.P.Patel, Managing Director, UJVN Limited has been awarded the prestigious “Indira Gandhi Sewa Ratna Award 2012" in New Delhi on 08.04.2012. This award is given by the "All India Economy Survey Award Council" to those meritorious personalities from various fields who have achieved excellent progress in their respective fields. Shri G.P.Patel received this award from Justice I.M.Quddussi, the Hon’ble Justice of Chattisgarh High Court.

It is notable that after G.P.Patel took over the charge as Managing Director of UJVN Limited the Nigam set new records in the field of energy generation under his efficient and able guidance. In the Financial Year 2011-12 UJVN Limited generated a record 5261.823 million units of energy against the annual target of 4760.50 million units which is the highest ever of a year since the establishment of the UJVNL. It will also be noteworthy to mention that erstwhile the record of highest ever generation of a year was set in 2010-11 under the able leadership of Mr G.P.Patel when the powerhouses of of UJVNL generated a record 4906 million units of energy against the target of 4798 million units.

Sensing the limitations of hydropower Mr G.P.Patel showed his vision and farsightedness and a milestone was set in the history of UJVNL when the the foundation stone of gas based powerplant was laid at Kashipur in District Udhamsingh Nagar of Uttarakhand. This project is a joint venture of UJVNL & GAIL (INDIA) Ltd. Earlier an MoU was signed between UJVNL & GAIL (INDIA) Ltd regarding establishment of gas based powerplant in Haridwar and Kashipur District of Uttarakhand.

Showing trust UJVNL Government of Uttarakhand awarded the 120 Mega Watt Vyasi Hydro Electric Project in river Yamuna in district Dehradun to UJVNL for construction & commissioning. With the great efforts of Mr. G.P.Patel Central Electricity Commission has also awarded the much awaited Techno Economic Clearance to the project.

Apart from this under the dynamic leadership of G.P.Patel the activities and functions of the Nigam were diversified and expanded from Hydro Power to other sources of energy like Solar, Gas, Coal etc. and the name of company was also changed from Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited to UJVN Limited.

The personnels of UJVN Limited showed joy and congratulated Managing Director Mr. G.P.Patel on receiving this award.
