INDIOLAND
The City of Indio hosts several events in the heart of the city each year. The Tamale Festival is held each December on the streets of Old Town Indio, celebrating one of the culinary deights of the region. The event holds the Guinness World Record as the largest tamale festival on record, with a 120,000 in attendance. The Indio Mural Project chronicles Coachella Valley’s path to prosperity and growth, journeying from the early times of the indigenous native people, to the modern evolution of technology and mass transit. Indio is hot to a growing art scene that supports and nurtures future artists. Annual events give youth a chance to showcase their artwork and their unique talents.
