INDIGENOUS CULTURAL AWARENESS TRAINING DAYS 2015 The day will commence at 9:00 am and will run until 4:00 pm at the Frenchville Sports Club, Clifton Street, North Rockhampton. Participants will be welcomed with a traditional Welcome to Country and performances by traditional Darumbal dancers. Morning tea and lunch will be provided, as well as tea and coffee. This training will be open to EVERYONE Indigenous and non- Indigenous (businesses, non-profit organisations, government departments, schools, universities, TAFE colleges, hospitals, sporting clubs and individuals). Topics covered by the training include: Darumbal history pre-European settlers Structure of Darumbal Land Structure of Darumbal Tribes Indigenous Games Bush Medicine & Traditional Food Dancing Painting Storytelling Initiation Marriage Hunting Making weapons and tools Scarred trees and traditional uses of trees Burials Smoking Ceremonies Participation in Indigenous Games Massacres around Central Queensland History of removal from land Issues in Community o Neglect of children o Indigenous health o Indigenous employment o Police
