India's KatrinaBihar is currently experiencing devastating floods. The embankment along the Kosi river in northern Bihar has

broken, drowning towns and numerous villages – many are reported dead or rendered homeless.

More than 3 million people are affected and over a million have become homeless. The district of Supaul alone has 500

villages destroyed and over 600,000 people affected. Innumerable amount of crops and property have been

destroyed or damaged. This calamity must make sit up and do something.

The most urgent needs include shelter, access to fresh water, food, emergency medical supplies, and basic

household items

Narrated Asma' bint Abu Bakr: that she had gone to the Prophet and he said, "Do not shut your money bag; otherwise Allah too will with-hold His blessings from you. Spend (in Allah's Cause) as much as you can afford. "  (Sahih Bukhari: Book #24, Hadith #515)

Narrated Safwan bin Salim: The Prophet said "The one who looks after and works for a widow and for a poor person, is like

a warrior fighting for Allah's Cause or like a person who fasts during the day and prays all the night." Narrated Abu Huraira that the Prophet said as above.  (Sahih Bukhari: Book #73, Hadith #35)

Pay zakat and sadaqat to help rehabilitate millions of people

who have suddenly become destitutes.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Allah said, 'O son of adam! spend, and I shall spend on you."  (Sahih Bukhari: Book

#64, Hadith #264)

Narrated Abu Yahya Khuraym ibn Fatik, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: He who spends in the cause of Allah has his

reward seven hundred times. [Tirmidhi Hadith 1343]

And perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat, and whatever of good (deeds that Allah loves) you send forth for yourselves before you, you shall find it with Allah. Certainly,

Allah is All-Seer of what you do. [Quran: Surah Baqarah, Ayah110]
