Four groups:• Brahmins: Highest caste; most

privileged.

Lawyers, doctors, businessmen

• Ksatriyas: Warriors and rulers. Had to give their lives to protect the Brahmins and sacred animals (cows).

• Vaisyas: Farmers and traders. Encouraged to give money to Brahmins & build Temples

• Sudras: Serve the other three classes. Weavers and carpenters

• Not even considered humans; dogs are treated better.

• Do the worst jobs possible
