POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT (TOURISM AND CARGO)
PGDM in Tourism and Cargo Management
(PGDM- TC) is a programme of IITTM’s South India Campus at Nellore (Andhra Pradesh). This
course offers a very vibrant approach to human
resource development in the growing tourism
and cargo management sector. The pedagogy of
the course is designed by combining the
contemporary developments in the tourism and
cargo management scenario with a global
outlook.
This management programme has all the
elements of a full-fledged tourism course
along with cargo specialization modules;
providing enrich learning experience as the
inputs of course have been contributed and
updated by experienced industry professionals as
well as eminent academia, it has a blend of a
comprehensive curricula with the flavour of
practical managerial solutions and its
applicability in industrial context manifesting
as a panacea for the often deliberated on
the gap between the present management
education and changing as well as evolving
industry requirements.
This unique PGDM programme emphases value
based education which opens door for
innumerable opportunities in Tourism, Cargo
and allied sectors at executive and management
level. In tourism sector; Tour operations in
national and multinational tourism and travel
companies, Tourism destination Marketing,
Event management, State Tourism Boards and
related organizations, Independent Travel
Consultants, E-Tourism services, Escorting,
Guiding and Interpretation and Hospitality are
the much sought after areas. Options available in
cargo sector includes Air and Shipping cargo,
Freight and forwarding, LLP/4PL services,
Cross-Docking, Fleet management and
Customs and brokerage. Foreign exchange,
Airports and airlines, Research and consultancy
are the other allied areas where this course is
found useful.
Dual specialization would be available to
students in the areas of Tourism Marketing,
Tour Operation Management, Air Cargo
Management and Shipping Cargo Management.
Working executives, entrepreneurs in the field of
tourism and cargo management are encouraged
to pursue the programme to update their
knowledge in contemporary business strategies.
Structure
i. This is an intensive programme of study
of 2 academic sessions.
ii. The programme shall be divided into
four taught semesters and there shall be
an examination at the end of each
semester.
iii. First and Second semester comprise of
nine courses and Third and Fourth
semester shall have six courses
excluding project report and study tour
report; with three hours per week of
class room teaching for each course
along with demand for equal amount of
self study obligation. Foreign language,
Soft skill lab, Live Projects, exercises
and assignments are integral part of the
pedagogy.
iv. Admission is being offered only for 60
seats in the programme.

ELIGIBILITY
Candidates seeking admission to the PGDM programme shall be required to possess a bachelor’s degree (10+2+3 pattern) in any discipline of a University / Institute or equivalent thereto with at
least 50% marks for UR / OBC or 45% marks for SC / ST / PH.
Applicants must appear in any of the following Management Entrance Tests approved by AICTE
and submit a valid score (one year from the last date of application i.e. between May 1, 2014 to
May 1, 2015):
i. MAT (Management Aptitude Test) conducted by AIMA (All India Management

ii. CAT (Common Admission Test) conducted by IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management)

iii. CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) conducted by AICTE (All India

vi. ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions) conducted by AIMS (Association of
Indian Management Schools) [http://www.atmaaims.com]. IITTM Nellore campus is the
exam centre for ATMA.
Reservation for SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy layer) and physically challenged candidates will be
applicable as per Govt. of India rules.
Physically challenged candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Candidates appearing for the final examination of graduation are also eligible to apply, on their
own risk subject to condition that they must submit the result of graduation with requisite percentage of marks by October 31, 2015 (student must submit an affidavit to this effect).

The admission to IITTM is a four-step procedure:

i. Applying
Candidates shall download application by visiting the institution’s website www.iittmsouth.org
then click on Admissions>Application Form.
The completed form along with Demand Draft of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PH) payable to
Director - IITTM payable at Gwalior, send it to:

ii. Screening for admission
a. Admission would be strictly on the basis of merit prepared on the basis of performance in CAT /
MAT / CMAT / XAT / GMAT / ATMA (70%) (Best of all the submitted scores), Group
Discussion (15%) and Personal Interview (15%).
b. A candidate to be considered for admission would have to participate in all the above components
of the admission process. Inter-se-merit will be determined on the basis of the Moderation
Formula, practiced by the institute.
c. In case of two or more candidates has scored equal marks, the inter-se-merit of such candidate
shall be determined based on older in age.
d. The eligibility for admission will be Graduation (50% for UR / OBC and 45% for SC / ST / PH)
in any stream from a recognized University / Institute.
Note: For reserved category students, the candidate must produced the valid category certificate issued
by the competent authority for SC / OBC / PH candidates while for OBC candidate, the prescribed
certificate would be under non-creamy layer issued within the last three years.

e. Candidates appearing for the final examination of graduation are also eligible to apply, on their

f. In case the candidate fails to establish eligibility by October 31, 2015, the admission would be
cancelled and fees will be forfeited.
g. Short-listed students will have to appear for GD and PI at any one of the IITTM centers, which
they have to mark in the admission form:

iv. Refund Policy
(As per AICTE Guidelines - Reference AICTE Guidelines No. - AICTE / Legal / 04(01) / 2007,April 2007)
Process of refund of tuition, development and other fees after cancellation of admission secured
through CAP rounds, institute level round(s) and vacancy round(s) of admission.
The candidate, who has been provisionally admitted, may cancel admission by submitting an
application for cancellation in duplicate, in the prescribed format and may request for refund of
fee.

The refund of fee as applicable shall be made in due course. It is made clear that such application
for cancellation will be considered if and only if the admission is confirmed by paying the
prescribed tuition fee and other fees in full and by submitting the original documents.
Refund shall be made after deduction of the cancellation charges as shown:

In view of above cases the commencement date for teaching season is July 13, 2015, will count for all purposes.
However, the late admission after the date of start of the academic session would not cover in the refund policy, only security deposit will be refund.
Reservation/ relaxations would be applicable as per Government of India rules.

Caution money deposit is refundable to the student after the completion of his / her PGDM
course.
Study Tour is mandatory for all the students, however, the fee for study tour i.e. ₹ 10,000/- will
be paid along with the fee of second semester.

IMPORTANT POINTS
1. Institute shall not be responsible for any postal / courier delays in correspondence related to
admission process. 2. Candidates, who are admitted to the programme in the merit list and are unable to get admission to
the programme of their first choice, shall be placed on waiting list for that programme. Movements
through waiting lists are strictly on the basis of merit. 3. Once a candidate has taken admission in one of the programmes of IITTM at any of the centres and
his / her name is forwarded to AICTE, his / her admission shall not be transferred to any other
programme of the institute. 4. A candidate / guardian must declare ailment and medical history, if any, at the time of admission. 5. Students on taking admission shall be deemed to have agreed to abide by the rules and regulations of
the institute. 6. All matters are to be settled subject to jurisdiction of Madhya Pradesh High Court - Gwalior Bench.
SCHOLARSHIP AND FREESHIP
Students of IITTM can avail government scholarships offered by various agencies to students of different
categories. Besides these scholarships, IITTM offers Freeship to one male and one female student from
each course for the semester, that they score the highest grade (Rules of the institution applicable). The
amount of the Freeship will be awarded to the students of each PGDM program on the annual basis.

Director IITTM reserves all the right to make changes in requirements and regulations for admission,
regulation for continuing the courses, contents of the courses, fee charges or regulations affecting
students or making any other suitable modifications in any matter incidental or ancillary thereto,
should these be deemed necessary in interest of the student, profession or the institute.
All matters of dispute, regarding the above, if any, will be subject to the legal jurisdiction of Gwalior
only.

LIFE @ IITTM
World Tourism Day
World Tourism Day was celebrated on 27th
September, 2013. Students organized an awareness
with citing the importance of the theme‘Tourism and water’ in Nellore town at 8.00 Am to 10.00
Am. (RTC bus stand to Gandhi statue.) Inter Collegiate Competitions were organized and more
than 250 students from 30 colleges participated in Quiz, Debate and Painting Competitions.
Prerna – Inspiration for Generation
Prerna is an initiative to create a platform for the New Batch of PGDM to interact and learn from
the senior batch PGDM (T&C) through Management events like Hot Seat, Crisis Management,
Block Tackle, Debate, Paper presentation, Ads UP, Quiz and Business Plan writing.
National Education Day
Extempore and essay writing competitions were held on 11th
November 2013 on the occasion of
National Education Day, marking the birth of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Extempore was on
“Privatization of Higher Education” & Essay Writing was on “Education for Enlightenment”.
Club Activities
Club Activities is a pioneering effort to establish Industry-Academia interface .Air Cargo,
Shipping Cargo and Tour Operation Clubs are operating for this purpose.
Film Club
Film Club of IITTM, Nellore is oriented in providing valuable edutainment to the student
community using the most popular medium of dissemination – Movies. The Film Club reviewed
a patriotic movie “BORDER” as a part of Independence Day Celebrations.
National Youth Day
The Youth is considered as the promise of the nation. The need to harness the potential of youth
assumes a lot of significance. Youth Day marked the beginning of the even semester celebrations
of IITTM Nellore on 29.01.2014. “Youth is the gift of nature but age is a work of art” (Stanislaw
Jerzy Lec) was proved right as Prof. Vijayaraghavan, Professor and Head of the Department of
Social Work, Madras School of Social Work, delivered a special lecture on “Youth – Potent
force for tomorrow” and outlined the relevance of life skill education for modern youth and
shared his valuable experiences with younger generation.

Sports Day
Sports Day celebrations was held from 23rd
January, 2014 to 25th
January, 2014. The three day
event comprised of games such as badminton, cricket, football, Chess, caroms, throw ball, and
tug-of-war. Of the four teams who fought against each other Sirus-15 were the Sports Day
Champions, followed by Simhapuri Rebels as runners-up.
Red Cross Certification Programme
First Aid training is given to non experts to act in case of any emergency. Experts of Red Cross
Society conducted Red Cross Certification Programme for Regional Level Guide Trainees and
PGDM students on 01.02.2014 and 02.02.2014.
Farewell Day
The act of farewell aptly described as ‘Fair Cruelty’ by Williams Shakespeare left tears in the
eyes of juniors as they formally bid edieu to their seniors. Glorious memories of past, nostalgic
moments at campus were recollected followed by farewell songs.
Annual Day
The Annual Day of IITTM Nellore was celebrated on 27.02.2014with joy and vibrancy. Cultural
extravagance was unfurled by the dance and melodious song performances of students.
