    individualswhomighthavespecificallergies,and(c)religiousreasons(Migueletal.2004).The

    conventionalmethodologyusedforthedeterminationofspeciesorigininmeatproductshad

been predominantly based on immunochemical and electrophorectic analysis of protein.

Additionally, through the acquisition of sequence data, DNA can potentially providemore

information than protein, due to the degeneracy of the genetic code and the presence of

    manynoncodingregions.DNAhybridization(Winteroetal.1990)andPCRmethods(Chikuni

et al. 1994) have been used for the identification of meats and meat products. DNA

hybridizationmethods are complicated and generally inadequate, but PCR easily amplifies

target regionsof templateDNA inmuch shorter time (Saiki et al. 1988).Multiplex PCR, inwhichmany primerswere used together for amplification ofmultiple target regions, is a

    hopefultechniqueformeatspeciesidentification.Thepresentstudyisfocusedontheuseof
