wireless subscribers

in January 2009,

according to data

released by telecom

regulator TRAI. The

total wireless

subscribers (GSM,

CDMA & WLL(F))

base stood at 362.30

million at the end of

January 2009 –

According to the latest ICT Development Index

released by International Telecom Union (ITU),

India has moved just one rank above from 117 in

2002 to 118 in 2007 despite tremendous growth

in mobile phone access in the country. ITU's ICT

Development Index compares developments in

information and communication technologies

(ICT) in 154 countries over a five-year period

from 2002 to 2007
