AVAILABILITY Or DOCUMENtS

3. In response to the views expressed in the FUth Committee, during prior consideration of the item on pubUcatlmls and documentation, that the existing series of documents and meetings had reached such high figures as to bedifficult to handle, it has been decided that documents andmeeting records for the thirty-first and subsequent sesslonsof the General Assembly would be numbel"ed in separateseries by sesslon, and not consecutively as hitherto. As faras symbol series are concerned, the session will be givl!nin the symbol In Arablc numerals immediately following theindication of the body concerned, while the final element willgive the serial number within the particular serles con'"cerned. For example, A/S-I0/10 is the tenth in the serlesof main documents for the General Assembly at its tenthspecial sessicm an~ A/S-I0/AC.l/L.16 is the sixteenth inthe serles I)f limited distribution documents for the Ad HocCommittee at that session. The numberlng of meetuigs hasbeen adjusted in a similarway• Thus the first plenary meeting of the eighth special session of the General AS3emblybears the symbol A/S-8/PV.1, wh11e the record of the thirdIi'\eeting of t~e Ad Hoc Committee of the ninth special session is cited as A!S-9!AC. 1/SR.3.

The General Assembly in resoluUon 3415 (XXX) approved a set of criteria for the provision of meeting recordsof United Nations bodies. In accordance with these criteria, the summary records of the Flfth Committee (eighth specialsession) and of the Ad Hoc Committees (ninth and tenth specit!.l sessions) will be issued in only one form (as OfficialRt1Cords of the General Assembly), and will cover aU diScussions, whether substantive or procedural. Correctionsto these meeting records will be included in one sessionalFascicle for each of the Committees, covering all meetings. The verbatim records of the plenary meetings of the GeneralAssembly will continue to be issued initially in provisionalmimeographed form for Umited distribution, and later forgeneral distribution in corrected printed form as OfiicialRecords.

Of the other documents, a few appear as printed s;-lements to the Official Records (a fact always noted in s

in ex, and the rest are issued iri mimeographed form. Someof these, such as the reports of committees on various agenda items, are subsequently printed in the Annexes to theOfficial Records. Resolutions adopted by the General Assembly, first issued in mimeographed form, are collectedin printed Su~Plements to the Official Records of each session. After etr repubUcation in ~'he Official Records, provisional mimeographed documents are no longer available.See pages 12, 29 and 56 for lists of documents of each session.
