Introduction

About us

Logika Academy was established in 2012 to address the need for affordable, quality

education, especially in rural communities where access is limited. The solution was to

move to online learning, giving everybody an equal opportunity to improve their careers

and lives through education. It is our calling and passion to equip each person to become

who they were born to be, successful in whichever path they choose. We would like to

encourage you to look at our courses and contact our dedicated support team if you

require any assistance or would like to enrol. The importance and value of education

cannot be measured, as it not only impacts you and your career, but also your family and

community. We would like to help you play your part #knowgrowprosper.

Accreditation

Accreditation is very important if it is required. Accreditation basically means that the

course credits can be carried over to count towards a further qualification. In most

cases this is not required by students as they only want to attain the skills and

qualification, and they pay unnecessary high costs to get an accredited course.

That being said, Logika Academy is accredited by The Service Seta (Accreditation number

12210), and have applied for registration at the Department of Higher Education and

Training. We have received confirmation that our application is being processed and we

are awaiting our registration number.

We are also a franchisee of Computers4kids who is accredited by the MICT Seta and

ICDL.

Logika Academy Pty Ltd is a registered Pastel Training Centre, and acknowledged in the

Sage One CSP manual as a Subject Matter Expert.

We would also like to point out that Seta’s do not accredited distance or online learning

without any classes being attended.

How online studying works

It is very simple, you find a quiet place, log in, and do your thing. We have created a clean,

user-friendly environment with various support options available. So, if you experience

any problems we are right there to assist. At first people are unsure if the “online

learning thing” will work. As we did our research and started to offer online learning we

realised that we are actually doing a student injustice by not offering online training.

Page 4: INDEX [unilearn.co.za]unilearn.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Logika-Academy-Prospectus-2018.1-Print... · Logika Academy was established in 2012 to address the need for affordable,

Here are just a few reasons why:

• You get to work according to your own pace, and in your own time. No classes to

attend, no travelling, no missing work or appointments.

• We address various learning styles (reading, hearing, doing, and gamification)

• You are studying on your own, but you are not alone. You will get peer to peer

support in the student forums, and also have access to the student support team. It

does have a social aspect and you can choose your level of involvement.

• You can refer back to previous material at any time. For example if you forgot how

to make a chart in excel, you can go back and view the demo video at any time. If

you have learned this in a class you miss out on this option. If you did not understand

the first time, you can replay the demo as much as you like. In class training you might

not feel comfortable to ask the trainer to repeat a couple of times.

• You as a student can be confident that you are getting the best quality training, at

convenient times to you. As great as teachers and trainers are, they do not always

offer the same quality training to everyone. They might have an off day (they are

human too), or a student with a lot of questions that takes up to much time and they

have to cut their class short. On the other hand, you might have a student that is

having an off day, distracted by something or maybe just tired, which means they are

not concentrating and not taking everything in.

• If you have been inactive for a while, you will get a gentle nudge from our student

support centre, just to make sure you don’t put it off for too long. We are committed

to help our students complete their courses, as your success is our success.

Now that you know who we are, and what we do, we would like to hear from you. Let us

Free courses There are a few things we offer for free, as we believe that it is absolutely critical that

everybody has the opportunity to learn and know basic skills. We offer free basic

computer lessons, a free K53 practice test (we are working on the lessons to offer a full

course), and a free career guidance test to help you make the right choice when it comes

to selecting the course for you.

Computer literacy

We currently offer basic MS Word and Excel lessons. You do not need to register or log

in for these lessons. You just go to the website and choose the lessons you want to do,

and you can also go back and review them as many times as you like. The lesson will give

you a demonstration video, as well as step by step instructions on a pdf document to try

yourself. We will be adding more lessons in the future, so keep an eye on our Facebook

page for the updates.

K53 Learners practice test

We have the test available in Afrikaans and English. You do not need to register or log in

for the test, and you can redo it as many times as you like. We are working on a course

to complete before you do the test and will let you know as soon as it is ready.

Career guidance test

It is not unusual for people to be uncertain of which course they want to study. As this is

a big decision we have an obligation free test that you can take to help you make the

right selection.

Early Childhood Development

SAQA ID: 58761

Purpose:

This is an entry-level qualification for those who want to enter the field of Education,

Training and Development, specifically in the sub-field of ECD. Many of those who will

seek this qualification are already practising within the field, but without formal

recognition. This qualification will enable you to facilitate the all-round development of

young children in a manner that is sensitive to culture and individual needs (including

special needs), and enable them to provide quality early childhood development services

for children in a variety of contexts, including community based services, ECD centres, at

home and in institutions. In particular, recipients of this qualification will be able to:

• Plan and prepare for Early Childhood Development

• Facilitate and monitor the development of babies, toddlers and young children.

• Provide care and support to babies, toddlers and young children.

Rationale:

ECD is a priority area within the South African context and is supported by legislation, national

policies and strategies. The development of babies, toddlers and young children forms the most

critical foundation of further development into childhood and adulthood. There is thus a vast

need for ECD services, and it is critical that the field should be served by competent practitioners.

In order to meet the needs at ECD level, it is important to be able to identify and recognise

competent ECD practitioners who are able to work in a variety of ECD contexts. This qualification

will provide a means to give recognition to practitioners at an entry level, thus making it possible

for practitioners to increase their employment prospects, and at the same time provide the field

with suitably qualified practitioners.
