STAFF CHANGESSTAFF CHANGES
Mrs. Vicki Healey is going on long service leave for the rest of the term and we have been able to secure the employment of Ms. Candice Mastaglia to take over the year 4/5 class in her absence. Ms Mastaglia has done a lot of work in the school and already knows the children, class structure and expectations. Mrs Healey has been working with Ms Mastaglia
to ensure a smooth handover.
CHANGESCHANGES
As of the first day of term 4 a new company called Camp Australia will be taking over the out of school care on the school site. They are inviting all interested families to a community meeting on site. Please find details regarding the invitation to attend, attached to this
newsletter.

CLEAN UP AVELEY DAYCLEAN UP AVELEY DAY
On Friday, 21 August our year 5/6 students participated in a Clean Up Aveley afternoon where they were separated into groups to collect litter from the surrounding areas. This activity was the initiative of Ben Spargo and his father Brett who were disappointed to see so much rubbish in the
bush around the wetlands and lakes. They were able to obtain a donation from Stockland for $500 which is going to the school camp in term 4. The local member of parliament Mr Frank Alban also contributed the cost of a skip bin for all the rubbish to be collected in and arranged the cost of the bin to be dumped. We wish to thank all those involved for this fantastic community
initiative.
FARM VISITFARM VISIT
On Friday, 21 August the school had a visit from the Royal Agricultural Society who brought out farm animals and put on a performance for students about farming for some of the younger classes. All the children in the school got to get up close and
personal with the animals during lunch and recess.

WAKAKIRRIWAKAKIRRI
Wakakirri results are in! Due to the limited number of schools in 2015 registered on performance nights here in Perth, there is to be no finals night held as per previous years. Two items from all of schools who were in the two performance nights last Wednesday and Thursday have been selected as 'Story of the Year' nominees. Unfortunately we were not one of these two schools. St. Joseph's and Singleton were selected. They don't perform again either, but are in contention for the title of 'National
Story of the Year' to be announced in October.
We won these Performance Awards- storytelling, overall costume design, well rehearsed performance and item concept. We took out the State Award of 'Best social awareness story',
which is fantastic!
The panel judge gave us this feedback "I loved the opening contrast of the Australian and Balinese schools. The plane trip to Bali was a very witty & clever construction and the depiction of Balinese village life beautiful, simple & effective. Overall, a clever, clear and economical theatre story." That is just fantastic! Mrs Spencer and myself are super proud of all of our performers,
all 59 of you were stars!
We look forward to performing our item again at the school Open Night in term 4, so stay tuned. Thanks again to ALL children, parents and staff who have made this magical journey possible.
You're all legends!

P & C NEWS
P & C NEWS
The Maggie Dent Parent Seminar – Boys Boys Boys was held on Wednesday, 12 August. This was a major fundraiser for our school with all proceeds going to the Nature Playground. A total profit over $13,000 was made for the event. Special thanks go to Stacey Jackson for arranging the event and making it happen. Our school will appreciate this for many years to come. Thank
you so much Stacey.
The P&C will be holding a Family Quiz Night on Friday, 11 September at 6:30PM. The event will be held in the Aveley Community Building and will run till around 9:00PM. The event is being co-ordinated by Catherine Smithson. Catherine is looking for volunteers to help organise and run the event which promises to be a great night out for all the family. If you are interested in helping with your valuable time please contact her at [email protected] If you have donations or know someone that might donate to the cause please contact
Catherine.
The school canteen will begin operating one day per week (Friday) next term for a trial period. Meals will be prepared outside the school by a reputable business and transported to Aveley for lunchtime. An online payment and ordering
system will hopefully be up and running in time for this. The menus have been finalised with great care taken to ensure they
will provide healthy options for the children at a fair price.
On Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd September the P&C will be running our annual Father’s Day Stall for the children at the school. Each class will have the opportunity to come and shop with gifts priced at $2, $3 and $5. If you are interested in helping at the stall please contact Vice-President Joanne Needham on 0403 239 255. Any amount of time will be appreciated to make this event run
smoothly.
As you may be aware, the school has received a grant to hold a Multicultural Concert and Food Fair titled “It’s A Small World After All” on Friday, 6 November. It will be a great evening full of entertainment and delicious food for the whole family. If you are able to help with this event, please contact President Natasha Cheung on
0433 288 953. This will be an opportunity to showcase our
school to the wider community- let’s make it great!
Christina Cafini is co-ordinating a Clothes Swap Night. It promises to be a great night out for the ladies where you have the opportunity to pick up some great items for the wardrobe! If you are interested in helping, Christina can be contacted on
0421 342 125.
Please note the P&C Rainbow Run on the Term 3 Planner which is scheduled to take place on Friday, 28 August has been postponed to a later date. The dates and costs are not final yet
but this will be a great event for all of the family.
A reminder to parents that we have a school banking system in place for teaching children of the rewards for saving money. The Bank is open on Tuesday mornings before school in the under-cover area. All accounts that are opened and all deposits earn a
commission for the P&C.
A reminder to parents that the P&C run the Uniform Shop to not only raise funds for the school but also to make it convenient for you to buy uniforms close to home. The Uniform shop has plenty of stock in all sizes for all seasons. Please use this facility as any
(small) profit goes to your children’s education and well-being.
The next P&C Meeting will be held in the school library on Monday, 14 September at 6:30PM. Everyone is welcome to
attend.
Thank you for your support.
