At Cois Carraig, ATG introduces the concept of cohousing as an option for those wishing to enhance life after retirement. Cohousing  is a type of community living that combines private homes with communal buildings and green areas. With cohousing neighbourly support for a more convenient, active and secure lifestyle occurs naturally.

Hugely successful throughout Europe, Australia, and the USA cohousing provides the ideal antidote to the modern epidemics of loneliness, inactivity, financial uncertainty and security. Restricting the age of acceptance to over 50s promotes a more

favourable community of individuals with similar needs.

Downsizing to a newly built modern home can significantly reduce overhead costs, such as maintenance, heating and electricity bills. Some senior cohousing communities also encourage neighbours to share resources, such as carpooling and refuse bins.

At Cois Carraig we provide a safe, secure and stress-free environment in a comfortable home where in almost all circumstances there will be no need for residential care in later life.

Cois Carraig has 22 beautifully designed two-bedroom dormer bungalows. These bungalows are designed to be large on comfort but low on maintenance. There is ample space to entertain or to accommodate visitors. We also offer a 3 bedroomed semi-detached option for those who would like a little more living space. Each resident has access to our community building which is designed for daily use. It is an integral part of the community and includes a TV area, a gym, a computer area as well as tea and coffee making facilities. All gardens and communal areas will be fully maintained by ATG.

Life at Cois Carraig offers the perfect combination of community centred living along with easy access to all the benefits of modern city living. A host of amenities are located within easy reach. For walkers there is a choice of the newly opened neighbourhood park in Mungret or the beautiful tracks of Irelands largest deciduous forest at Curragh Chase. Golfers too will be spoilt for choice with a host of local courses, none more challenging than Adare Manors championship course. The Crescent Shopping Centre is one of Irelands largest centres and offers a huge range of choice for the discerning shopper. For local amenities, Clarina itself boasts retail units such as a pharmacy, convenience store, petrol station, hairdressers and dry cleaners. The local church and community centre are within walking distance.

Located just 20 minutes from Shannon airport and 2 hours from Dublin by train, Limerick is Irelands third largest city and is currently enjoying an economic renaissance, with record levels of investment. The region is also renowned as a cultural hub with the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, RTÉ Lyric FM, University of Limerick Concert Hall and the Lime Tree Theatre. Limerick was named Ireland’s first National City of Culture in 2014 and was shortlisted for the 2020 European Capital of Culture title. On the sports side, Limerick boasts a strong GAA community, first class horse racing and greyhound tracks as well as Thomond Park the home of Munster Rugby.

Cois Carraig

After 4 months looking to downsize in Dublin I was forced to look further afield. Immediately on seeing the showhouse I fell in love with Cois Carraig. I can say for certain there is nothing like this in Dublin. I love my new home and my neighbours who have been so welcoming. I love walking and nearby Curraghchase is a walker’s paradise.

We were reluctant to leave Dublin but after reading about this senior cohousing development I was tempted to check it out. The homes are comfortable and spacious. I really love the 9 foot high ceilings and there is ample space for visitors to stay over. There is a great sense of community at Cois Carraig. Limerick train station is only about 10 minutes away and we regularly return to Dublin to meet up with family and friends. I would highly recommend Cois Carraig.

Clarina is a lovely place and Cois Carraig is very quiet and peaceful. The local community is very welcoming and from the very start included us in local activities. I now live in a very modern 2 bedroomed home within a friendly and safe community. I particularly like the Club House which provides a great opportunity to meet and socialise with my neighbours.
