Educate Woman, Educate Family

We tried to understand the villagers about the importance of the women education . We change the mentality of villagers about the women education. We promote the women to study and for the schooling of Girl Child.

During the discussions to chose the idea for DFC, students told about the mentality of the villagers . The villagers think that a woman is under the guardianship of father before marriage, dependant on her husband after marriage and on her son after the death of her husband but this attitude of treating a woman as a ward or a dependant has been in existence for villages.

The illiteracy among women have created many social problems.

We imagine, if we educate a woman, we educate a family. An educated woman can perform her duties with great efficiency. She can run her family in a better manner and can help her children in their studies also. If a woman is educated she is treated with respect. She has not to lead a life of dependence on men, since she can earn her own living in society

Many factors contributed to the change brought by us. We targeted 50 families and were able to convince about 19.The rally, Skit and individuals meetings played a role but the use of technology.Our biggest achievement is to aware the villagers to educate the women and tell the stories of Indra Gandi, Pratibha Patil, Kalpna Chawala etc. The Play and Rally were very helpful as real experiment were successful in building a rapport with the people.

Above all our desire for change and belief in human ability to reason, question and seek logic helped us to make people drift away from age old obsolete notions.
