Introduction
• That the garbage and waste near the
village creates many problem to the
villagers.
We ‘Felt’:
•The stinking smell is causing problems
for the passers by while
crossing this place.
We felt that doing something about this
place would be a sigh of relief for the
school goers and passers by.
• That we will be a helping hand in making our village disease free.
• That if we could aware community regarding this problem , the level of health and hygiene in community will go up, and we, the students will also be benefited.
We ‘Imagined’:
• That cleanliness of this place would bring
a little comfort for all the people and our
action would also sensitize the community
towards the cleanliness of this village.
• We started a
cleanliness drive in
the form of a
procession through
the village.
• We went to the site
and start cleaning
the area. Through
the rally we
conveyed the
message how to
manage the solid
waste.
We ‘Did’:
We prepared placards with relevant slogans.
We went door to door and met every person and made them understand about the solid waste management.
We ‘Did’:
.• We also met ladies of the village and
requested them not to through the garbage
here and there .
• Sensitized by the efforts of the students, the
village people came forward and joined
hands with us in the cleanliness drive.
• They realized that cleanliness of their village
is their responsibility.
Impact on Community:
• Some of the volunteers also
instructed the womenfolk not to
dirty the place by scattering waste.
• We felt very happy that despite of our age, we could contribute in the welfare of our village.
• Community appreciated us very much for this activity.
Impact on Us:
• We enjoyed the activity very much . we covered the whole village and showed great enthusiasm while talking to community and making them aware about solid waste management.
Experience of Community Members & Teachers:
• “The SBS students have done a commendable job, which has opened the eyes of the villagers and due to their efforts, the villagers are now motivated and aware towards their effort.”
Sarpanch of the village.
•Community shared that no one ever cared about this problem . Even govt. officials never bothered to visit our village and take care of this problem. We are thankful to you that you took the initiative.
• We plan time to time monitoring of the cleanliness status of the village where we had done the drive.
• We also plan to put up a request board at the site.• We will mark more of such places in the village where we could
contribute .
