Framework for IPC-IG

History of IPC-IG

IPC-IG was established in Brasilia in 2004 as a global partnership between the Bureau for Development Policy, UNDP New York and the Government of Brazil.

Goal: Bring advisory services closer to the field and foster strategic partnerships with leading emerging countries for South-South policy dialogue

o Strategic Partnerships Centre in Seoul (2011)

IPC-IG is widely recognised as the

‘success story’ of UNDP Global Thematic Facilities, being involved in various consultation processes

that lead to the creation of new global centres.

Produce policy-oriented research and facilitate learning and innovation at the global level on poverty reduction and inclusive growth through:

Global policy dialogue to better reflect the new balance of power and development imperatives of the Global South Exchange and learning between countries to promote inclusive growth in the South.

Our approach: IPC-IG’s work on inclusive growth starts from the

premise that societies based on equality tend to perform better in development and that long-term public investments on comprehensive social protection is a necessary condition to achieving sustainable and inclusive growth.

What is Inclusive Growth? A policy debate that emerged in the South: India,

China, Brazil, South Africa, Indonesia, Turkey Inclusive growth is both an outcome and a process,

requiring benefit-sharing and participation.
