Inclusion Faculty:• Team of 14 staff in school
• Includes teachers, teaching assistants, learning mentor
• We provide support for children in school who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)…
• … and any other additional needs: eg. significant medical issues, EAL (English as an additional language,) LAC (looked after) and other ‘vulnerable groups’
Types of SEN
4 main areas of need:
• Cognition and learning• Communication and interaction • Social, emotional and mental health
difficulties• Sensory, medical and physical
Some of the things we do – with children
• Learning support in mainstream lessons for identified pupils/groups of pupils• Small group work eg. key skills, SEAL (social & emotional aspects of learning)• 1:1 support in and out of lessons• Interventions (eg. literacy, numeracy)• Work off-site or in the home supporting children who are not accessing school• Mentoring • Behaviour strategies• Emotional support• Assessments to identify needs• Arrange & monitor alternative provision off-site (colleges, work experience,
specialist providers)• Education and other reviews• Child protection
Some of the things we do – with staff• Pass on info and strategies for identified pupils • Advise on how best to support specific pupils • Work closely with pastoral staff to agree additional interventions • Maintain a SEN register • Devise pupil profiles and IEPs (individual action plans)• Training related to SEND and child protection• Assess and apply for access arrangements for exams • Advocate for children with SEND and other ‘vulnerable groups’
Some of the things we do – with others
• Liaise with primary schools at transition• Arrange support from other agencies: EPS
(educational psychologists,) Health, CAMHS (mental health,) social care, paediatricians, SEN officers, Targeted Support, SFSS (Schools & Families Specialist Services,) HRET (Health Related Education,) etc…
• Link with colleges and alternative providers• Provide reports to governors, LA etc.• Provide support and advice for parents• Lots of meetings and ‘phone calls!!

Base Support

Work with identified pupils in the Base (Upper School) who may be experiencing social, emotional and mental health
difficulties.
Nurture
Sally Scott – Assistant SENCO & Nurture Manager
Coordinates graduated support for a group of identified children in KS3.
Based in lower school nurture area.
KS2 Transition
Julia Adamson – Assistant SENCO & Transition Coordinator
Works with feeder primary schools to identify Year 6 pupils with additional needs in order to ensure
appropriate support is in place before they start in Year 7.
Community Tutor
Christian Roberts
Works with pupils who can’t access lessons in school due to health related or social, emotional reasons.
Also provides specialist 1:1 curriculum support.
Designated Safeguarding Officers

Deal with child protection issues. Advise staff and liaise with social care and other agencies. Disseminate safeguarding
information and provide statutory and additional training to staff as necessary.
