A Message from Our Principal Happy New Year! January 2019 has arrived and brought with it the hope for health and happiness. Many of us have resolved to make changes in our personal lives, and we look forward to a new year of possibilities. At school, we remain resolved to grow leaders, one child at a time. Our plans continue to evolve and change in ways that support our students academically, socially and emotionally. We look forward to more exciting learning opportunities as we move through the rest of the school year. Arctic Academy While our current weather is oddly mild, we must be prepared for when Mother Nature rears her head and causes the temperature to drop. The next time our forecast looks wintry, listen for a School Messenger phone call. If the School Messenger mentions that it is an Arctic Academy Day, students will not report to school and will stay home and complete work assigned in advance. Once the work is completed, the day will be counted as a day of instruction and will not need to be made up. Students in grades Pre-K through 2 will bring home the Arctic Academy Activity: Digital Resources Info Sheet and activity pages to be completed. Some of this work will ask for parent participation. Parents will easily be able to understand the activities. Older students in grades 3 through 5 will complete assignments already downloaded to their Chromebooks. These assignments will have already been introduced to the students at school. On the Arctic Academy Day, teachers will be available for support via email and Schoology. If you have questions, we encourage you to contact your child’s teacher. In Our Thoughts We are happy to welcome back Mrs. Buck, who suffered a broken ankle earlier this school year, and we send good thoughts to Mrs. Cottrell and baby, and to Mrs. Marcus, who is recovering from surgery. We look forward to seeing both ladies very soon. Happy Wintertime! Mr. Gallon Inclement Weather Reminders
