Happy New Year! January 2019has arrived and brought with itthe hope for health andhappiness. Many of us haveresolved to make changes in ourpersonal lives, and we lookforward to a new year ofpossibilities.
At school, we remain resolved togrow leaders,onechildata time.Our plans continue to evolve andchange in ways that support ourstudents academically, sociallyandemotionally.Welookforwardto more exciting learningopportunitiesaswemovethroughtherestoftheschoolyear.
ArcticAcademyWhile our current weather isoddlymild,wemust be preparedforwhenMotherNaturerearsherheadandcausesthe temperatureto drop. The next time ourforecast looks wintry, listen for aSchool Messenger phone call. Ifthe School Messenger mentionsthat it is anArctic Academy Day,studentswill not report to schoolandwill stay home and completework assigned in advance. Oncethe work is completed, the daywill be counted as a day ofinstructionandwillnotneedtobemadeup.

Academy Activity: DigitalResources Info Sheet and activitypages to be completed. Some ofthis work will ask for parentparticipation.Parentswilleasilybeabletounderstandtheactivities.
Olderstudentsingrades3through5 will complete assignmentsalready downloaded to theirChromebooks. These assignmentswill have already been introducedto the students at school. On theArcticAcademyDay, teacherswillbe available for support via emailandSchoology.

2019GirlsontheRunRegistration
The 2019 Girls on the Run(GOTR) registration beginsJanuary 4th at 9 a.m. andclosesonJanuary10thforgirlsin grades 3-5. This 10-weekprogram starts the week of
February11th,andtheGOTR5Kis Saturday,May 4th. This program
teaches life skills through interactive lessons andrunninggames,anditculminateswiththegirlsbeingphysicallyandemotionallypreparedtocompletea5Krunning event. The program aims to unleashconfidence through accomplishment whileestablishing a lifetime appreciation of health andfitness. GOTR encourages girls of ALL fitness levels.Running experience is not required.
