Incineration

Incineration Should Be the Way We Deal With Our Rubbish Nicole When you think of incineration, you will most likely think of dioxin, cancer, burning and other bad things. However, incineration is not always about harming the environment, but about reducing the size of trash, saving natural resources, being efficient and helping the environment. Incineration should be the main strategy we use to manage our rubbish. Firstly, incineration reduces the size of trash. The ash that was once rubbish is now a lot smaller because it is turned into trash. Incineration reduces the volume by 10% of its original size and reduces its weight by 25%. By putting less waste in the landfills, we will not produce that much leachate. Also, by incinerating, the 3 landfills in Hong Kong will hopefully not fill up by 2015-2020, but a lot later. Secondly, incineration can save natural resources. For example, the heat that it produces can be used for swimming pools or homes built near the machine as electricity. The ash, once rubbish, can now be used for fertilizer. If you do these things, there will be even more space in the landfills because there will be less ash going there. In addition, incinerators are efficient and convenient to use. They can operate in any kind of weather, weather it is rainy, sunny or foggy. The machine requires a minimum amount of land and sometimes you can even buy an incinerator and use it in your backyard. It can treat hazardous waste and prevent it from affecting the environment. Incineration also saves your money because you do not need to pay for shipping or transportation fees. Last but not least, the new high-technology incinerators from Japan are harmless. There are filters that trap the pollutants, therefore, letting a very small amount of it come out. There is such a small amount of dioxin that it is totally harmless to the environment and us. These new incinerators from Japan can give us a safer and healthier surrounding to live in and help our landfills fill up slower by turning the rubbish into ash. Some people may think that every incinerator contributes to pollution, but Japan has proved them wrong. In conclusion, I believe that incineration has its advantages also and should be mostly used to treat our waste because of its convenience, efficiency and helpfulness to our environment.

Incineration Should Be the Way We Deal With Our

Rubbish Nicole

When you think of incineration, you will most likely think of dioxin, cancer, burning and other bad things. However, incineration

is not always about harming the environment, but about reducing the size of trash, saving natural resources, being efficient and

helping the environment. Incineration should be the main strategy we use to manage our rubbish.

Firstly, incineration reduces the size of trash. The ash that was once rubbish is now a lot smaller because it is turned into trash.

Incineration reduces the volume by 10% of its original size and reduces its weight by 25%. By putting less waste in the landfills, we

will not produce that much leachate. Also, by incinerating, the 3

landfills in Hong Kong will hopefully not fill up by 2015-2020, but a lot later.

Secondly, incineration can save natural resources. For example, the heat that it produces can be used for swimming pools or homes

built near the machine as electricity. The ash, once rubbish, can now be used for fertilizer. If you do these things, there will be even

more space in the landfills because there will be less ash going there.

In addition, incinerators are efficient and convenient to use. They can operate in any kind of weather, weather it is rainy, sunny

or foggy. The machine requires a minimum amount of land and sometimes you can even buy an incinerator and use it in your

backyard. It can treat hazardous waste and prevent it from affecting the environment. Incineration also saves your money

because you do not need to pay for shipping or transportation fees.

Last but not least, the new high-technology incinerators from Japan are harmless. There are filters that trap the pollutants,

therefore, letting a very small amount of it come out. There is such a small amount of dioxin that it is totally harmless to the

environment and us. These new incinerators from Japan can give us a safer and healthier surrounding to live in and help our landfills fill

up slower by turning the rubbish into ash. Some people may think that every incinerator contributes to pollution, but Japan has proved

them wrong. In conclusion, I believe that incineration has its advantages

also and should be mostly used to treat our waste because of its convenience, efficiency and helpfulness to our environment.
