Chemical engineers today are considered to be Universal Engineers. They use chemistry, physics, biology, microbiology, biochemistry, and mathematics to design programs, machines, and processes that turn raw materials into valuable products for human use, in the most efficient and cleanest way possible. As they are needed in most industries, chemical engineers play an important role in shaping modern society not only in the Philippines but also around the world.

InChEllectual Journey: From Local To Global is a two day event that will showcase the many traits and skills that would be needed in order to adapt and excel as Chemical Engineers that are up to par with global standards. The entire event will consist of four sub events, which are, the ASEAN InChEgration a seminar that will present what it is like to be a chemical engineer in other ASEAN countries, an Interuniversity Calcu Fest 2014, Inter-High School Competition (Calcu Fest, On-The-Spot Poster Making contest, On-The-Spot Essay Writing Contest), and lastly Inter-Engineering Calcu Fest.

ASEAN INCHEGRATION: Incorporating the Filipino Chemical Engineer Globally

Chemical engineers have the skills to be involved in a wide variety of manufacturing industries for example pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, food processing, and biotechnology. They also go into the line of work of producing energy, and even delve into environmental health and safety industries. Many Filipino chemical engineers take the opportunity to work in different countries all over the globe. Proving that Filipino engineers are well integrated in industries other than our own.

This seminar has the following objectives for its audience:

To learn how to adapt to the society and culture of other countries

To learn how to overcome the communication barrier within a working place of differing ethnicity

To learn how to excel in the working place with the good traits of a Filipino Engineer

To learn what it means to be globally competitive in the industry today

To learn how to embody Adamson core values in the working place.

For this seminar, we will invite Filipino Chemical Engineers, who have had experience in working as engineers in ASEAN countries. Their valuable insights will be the key to the development and the drive of young chemical engineering students to be globally competitive. We will invite chemical engineers from our target sponsors to be speakers of our event.

This event will invite other schools that are members of the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers-Junior Chapter Luzon as a way of sharing the knowledge that are to be imparted, and to help assure a high quality of Filipino Chemical Engineers in the future.

Proposed Date: September 13, 2013; 8:00-12:00 am Proposed Venue: AdU Theater Participants: ADUCHESS members, PICHE-JCL members Speakers: From Target Sponsors The attendees will receive certificate and (depende pag may sponsor)

INTERUNIVERSITY CALCU FEST 2014

The UlChEmate Battle

All engineers, not just Chemical Engineers, deal with quantitative analysis of matter. Since machines and experiments are sensitive, they must be accurate and precise with their measurements and understandings because a small error can lead to a big problem. This activity aims to expose the accuracy and precision of the different engineering students. This will assess their ability and strategy on solving problems using only their calculators. This will also test how other engineering students decide in every situation that they will encounter in the future.

The second part of InChEllectual Journey is called The UlChEmate Battle, which will test the wits and talents of the students of the Adamson University Engineering Department and also High Schools around Metro Manila. This activity is composed of four competitions namely On-The-Spot Poster Making Contest, On-The-Spot Essay Writing Contest, Inter-High Calcu Fest, and Inter-Engineering Calcu Fest. All of them shall be done simultaneously.

For the High School participants, they shall be toured in the Universitys premises particularly around Adamson Universitys Ozanam building where the chemistry, physics and engineering laboratories are located. For the University and its chemical engineering course to be promoted to the attendees.
