2 Getting Started

New Game

Title Screen

Start a new gamefrom the beginning.Choose a name foryour save file usingthe on-screenkeyboard. You canalso select characters with / and confirm input with . Touch ,or press , to delete a character.Select CONFIRM when you areready to start.

ContinueContinue a previously saved game.Touch CONTINUE on the titlescreen, then touch the save file toload your game.

ConnectCommunicate via WirelessCommunication, SpotPass andStreetPass. Touch CONNECT on thetitle screen, then touch the save fileto enter the CONNECT menu.

Saving Your Game

Select SAVE from the main menu(p. 13) to save your progress.

Number of Available SaveSlots: 1

Press during the story tosuspend play. Then select YES toquit the game and return to thetitle screen.

Quitting Your Game

♦ If you quit the game, anyunsaved progress will be lost.

♦ Do not turn the power off, pressany buttons or remove the GameCard while the game is saving.

● Do not turn the power off, resetthe system or remove GameCards/SD Cards while saving.Make sure not to get dirt in theterminals. These actions couldresult in permanent data loss.

● Do not use external accessoriesor software to modify your savedata, as this can lead to aninability to progress or loss ofsave data. Any modification ispermanent, so be careful.

17 Moving and Passing

Charging

Moving

Use the stylus tomove players.Slide the stylusfrom a player inany direction todraw a line alongwhich they will then move.

While dribbling withthe ball, tap yourplayer repeatedlywith the stylus. Ifyou get it right,you will shake offany chasing opponents easily.

Passing

While inpossession of theball, touch thespot where youwant the pass togo to. Use this forkick-off and corner kicks as well.

♦ Even if you don't move theplayers yourself, they willautomatically move around thepitch reacting to the currentphase of play in the match.

18 Shooting

Shooting

Get into a shootingposition, thentouch theopponent's goal toshoot. Select yourshot course, typeand strength, and then your shotwill be taken. Touch the lightningsymbol to use a special move.

Direct ShotWhen passing to a team-mate infront of the goal, touch thegoalmouth before they receive theball to take an early shot, increasingyour chances of scoring.

Long ShotsTouch to take ashot from distance.You can also uselong shot specialmoves marked 'L',providing theplayer has enough TP to activateone.

Shot Chain

♦ Before choosing your type ofshot, you can change the shotcourse as many times as youwish.

If a team-mate hasa special movemarked with 'C'and is standing inthe path of a shot,they can stringtogether a shot chain.

Crossing

Penalty Kicks

Draw thegoalkeeper out ofposition with theplayer inpossession of theball, then pass to aplayer standing in front of the goalto create a scoring opportunity.

Shot Blocking

♦ If your opponent's specialmove is stronger than yours,you may not block the shot,but you could reduce itspower.

If a team-matewith a specialmove marked 'B'is standing inthe way of anopponent'sshot, you may have the chance toblock it.

Power ToggleIn a penalty shoot-out, you can usethe power toggle up to three timesto add power to your penalty, or toimprove your chances of saving thepenalty if you're the goalkeeper.

A foul committed by the defendingteam in their penalty area will resultin a penalty being awarded to theattacking team. Also, penalties willsometimes be used to decide theoutcome of a match ending in adraw. Touch to choose a spot to aimfor, or a spot to defend if you're thegoalkeeper.

19 Command Duels

When the player with the ball comesinto contact with an opponent theywill automatically enter into a duel.Select what to do by touching oneof the available commands. Theoutcome will depend on thecommand chosen, and the player'srelative form. The higher the form,the higher the chance of success.

Shows each player's element(p. 21), FP and TP. The player inpossession of the ball will have the

icon displayed next to theirinformation.

Special Moves

In a duel, or whenshooting, you canalso touch thelightning symbol toperform a specialmove in exchange for some TP.

♦ If your opponent performs aspecial move at the same time,the outcome will be decided onthe players' ability and thestrength of each special move.

On the left is a reliable commandand on the right is a powerful butmore unstable one. You can alsotouch the lightning symbol toperform a special move.

20 Form

When your team is fired up they willbe temporarily strengthened. Theirshooting and duelling success ratewill be boosted, as will the strengthof their special moves. Performingspecial moves will also use less TPthan normal. Once the fired upgauge empties, your team will returnto normal.

Firing Up Your Team

Hold or to fireup your team. Youcan only do thisonce in eachmatch.

Special Tactics

Touch to usesome TTP toactivate one ofyour team's specialtactics. After usinga special tactic,you will not be able to use oneagain for a short time.

♦ The special tactics categories areas follows: 'Attack', 'Defence','Attack/Defence' and 'Kick'.Different special tactics requiredifferent amounts of TTP.

♦ In the same way as specialmoves, if your opponent uses a

21 Elements

Every player and special move has acorresponding element. There arefour: air, wood, fire and earth.These elements play a large part indeciding the outcomes of duels andcontests between special moves.

Elements in a Duel

Choose playerswho you know aregoing to have anadvantage over theopponent in duels.Elements which have an advantagewill be brighter, while ones with adisadvantage will be displayed ingrey. Also, if two players of thesame element are nearby, they candouble up in duels, increasing theirchance of success. For an evenbetter chance, three players of thesame element can triple up. Use thisto your advantage in tough matches.

22 Special Moves

Each player canlearn up to sixspecial moves.Special move slotsone to four can befilled by levellingup, while slots five and six can belearnt from a teacher or a movemanual. Select INVENTORY from themain menu, then select SPECIALMOVES to check which specialmoves you have learnt.

When a player gets to a certainlevel, they will learn a special move.Newly learnt moves will be displayedon the match results screen (p. 23),so be sure to look out for them.

Improving Special Moves

If you use a special movesuccessfully in a match a number oftimes, the move may improve andbecome more effective.

Co-op Moves

Moves marked '2P'or '3P' are co-opmoves. Thesemoves areexecuted bycooperating withfellow team-mates. Select a moveon the special moves screen, thentouch SET. to change co-op movesettings. You can nominate co-oppartners, or select RANDOM to havepartners randomly assigned.

After you have reached a certainpoint in the game, you will be ableto teach special moves you havelearnt to other players. Choose theplayer who knows the move and theplayer who wants to learn it. Tofinish, select the move you want toteach and a destination slot.

23 Match Results Screen

Your players will gain experienceeach time you win a match or battle.Become stronger by gainingexperience and levelling up. Youmay also receive Friendship Points,Prestige Points and items.

Your Victory Points and Nice PlayBonus will be added together post-match and shown as your totalexperience gained.

By using the connection map, youcan add to your number of friends.You can look at the connection mapon the Inazuma Bus.

26 Recruit System

You are able to recruit players fromteams you have beaten previously.To do so, use the videophone onthe Inazuma Bus.

Using the Recruit System

Choose the teamyou want to recruitfrom, then choosea player from thelist. You will get ahint as to theirlocation, which you can check atany time on your mobile by selectingINFO, then STATUS from the mainmenu. The subsequent process isthe same as when using theconnection map.

27 Scouting Options

Battle Scouting

After winning abattle, one of theopposition playersmay ask to joinyou. Select YES toadd them.

Capsule Scouting

Use the tokensearned in battles,or found intreasure chests, inthe capsulemachines . Youcan scout players that you'veencountered in battles.

28 Improve Your Team

The more matches and battles youwin, the stronger your players willbecome.

Battles

As you movearound in storymode, you'll haveto take part insudden battles.These battles takeplace with just four of your team-mates. Complete the objectivedisplayed on the top screen withinthe time limit to win. The morebattles you win, the moreexperience, Friendship Points andPrestige Points you gain.

♦ If you run away from or lose abattle, you will lose FriendshipPoints and Prestige Points.

♦ There are no long shots, fired upphases or special tactics inbattles.

Training Facilities

You can improve specific stats usingtraining facilities. Choose a courseand battle your way to the end. Ifyou lose a battle along the way,you'll have to start over from thebeginning! There's a team of 11waiting to challenge you at the end

Special Training

If you find a special training spot,you can use Prestige Points toimprove you and your friends' stats.Each special training spot affectsdifferent stats, so keep an eye outfor new ones.

♦ The more you use Prestige Pointsto improve a single player, themore Prestige Points will berequired to improve them further.

♦ If you improve one of the statstoo much, other stats will beginto deteriorate.

Setup

Play matches with your friendswirelessly. If each has a copy of thesoftware, up to four players cancompete. In each game, ConnectMatch will become available as youprogress through the story mode.

Connect Match Rules

Take control of theplayers you havechosen from yourteam in a ConnectMatch. In aConnect Match, ● ● ● ● marks are displayed beneatha player's feet, with the players youcontrol being marked white. Thecontrols and menus for a ConnectMatch are the same as for a normalmatch (p. 15-23).

Connect Match Rules● Each team can only fire up once.

Anyone from within the team cantrigger this.

● The only player who can open themenu is the one who entered thegame first.

● If multiple characters can activateshot chain or shot blockingmoves at the same time, theplayer who joined the game firstwill choose which moves toactivate.

Connect Match Stats

Once a ConnectMatch is over, thestats of your teamare displayed. Yourteam level and titlechange dependingon your performance. ConnectMatch stats can be viewed at anytime by selecting INFO, thenCONNECT INFO from the main menu.

The results are savedautomatically after a ConnectMatch ends.

Send Challenges viaStreetPass

The StreetPass feature allows theNintendo 3DS system toautomatically search for andcommunicate with otherNintendo 3DS systems. You cansend and receive StreetPasschallenges from other players.

Activating StreetPass

① Select CONNECT from the titlescreen, then STREETPASSCHALLENGE. StreetPassConnection can be found at thebottom of the StreetPasschallenge menu.

Deactivating StreetPassIf StreetPass is activated, you candeactivate it by going to StreetPassConnection, which is found in theStreetPass challenge menu, andselecting YES.

To communicate using this feature,all players must activate StreetPassfor this software on theirNintendo 3DS systems.
