INAUGURAL PUBLIC SPEAKING CONFERENCE Come early to the 2020 Winter Meeting in Scottsdale and join us for the FDCCʼs inaugural Public Speaking Conference on Tuesday, March 3rd, from 8:30 am through 5:30 pm. Fly in and check into the resort on Monday, March 2nd, and meet with our faculty, consisting of our members who are known for their effective, personable, compelling and persuasive story telling skills. Your StoryEach of our speakers will prepare and present a 5 minute story of their choosingfollowed by a brief explanation of how they prepared We ask all the attendees to do the same.We will be breaking into small groups in the afternoon, and you will present your 5 minute story to our faculty who will provide constructive criticism. This conference and this exercise is meant to be supportive and all advice will be offered in that vein.

9:30 AM to 10:00 AMAvoiding Fillers and Speaking with ConfidenceKiera OʼConnell GoralKiera will speak on upward inflections, fillers and other distracting habits and will teach how to speak confidently. She will conclude with her 5 minute story.

10:00 AM to 10:30 AMJurist, Warrior, Statesmen – Our Role asSpokespersonsKile TurnerKile will discuss who we are as lawyers and how our purpose not only defines our role as advocates, but how we should speak on our clients ̓behalf. Kile will conclude with his 5 minute story.

10:45 AM to 11:30 AMImprovisational SpeakingSteve Feld, MBA – Biz Coach SteveSteve will discuss how to develop your ability to organize your thoughts quickly and respond to an impromptu question or topic. A few members of the audience will have the chance to practice improvisational speaking for 1 to 2 minutes in front of the group. You will not know the topic to speak on but will be able to use what you learn in this session. He will conclude with his 5 minute story.

1:30 PM to 2:00 PMSpeaking to a JuryStuart SimonStuart will speak on how to speak to a jury to grab and hold their attention and come across as sincere, trustworthy and interesting. He will conclude with his 5 minute story.

2:00 PM to 2:30 PMFrom Good to Great – How to Get to the Next Level of Public SpeakingMiranda Lundeen SotoMiranda will discuss how to use the skills we develop as lawyers to improve our public speaking skills. She will conclude with her5 minute story.
