ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

The best way to fi nd the ideal spot for your Insect Hotel is to go out into your garden and fi nd a cool, dark place that has lots of cover, away from any natural predators.

Fix the hotel to a tree trunk, or a fence post; somewhere that catches the sun in the morning and hasshade in the day, and face the hotel that way. Check that the rain can’t get to the hotel or theinsects may drown.

Leave the box for a week or so and if the hotel isn’t fi lling up with residents, then re-locate it. Leaveit for another week and try again, eventually you will fi nd some interesting insects to inspect and identify.

Dear CustomerThank you for purchasing the Insect Hotel.

How does your garden grow? In fact it wouldn’t grow at all without the help of benefi cial insects. They’re essential for pollinating fl owers and trees as well as killing the creepy-crawlies that damage plants. That’s why our Insect Hotel is such a good idea. Designed to attract the ‘good guys’ it provides a ‘des-res’ for the pollinators - mason bees, wild bees and butterfl ies. It’s also an ideal home for ladybirds, digger wasps and lacewings that combat green fl y, black fl y, aphids and beetle larvae. With separate living areas for each species, it’s weather-proof, made from responsibly-sourced timber and is easy to fi x to a tree trunk or fence post. Measures W28xD9xH40cm.

INSTRUCTIONS

This Insect Hotel not only looks at home in any garden but also provides an ideal habitat for lots ofuseful insects that are benefi cial for the plants in your garden. Its provides a place for nesting inthe summer and a suitable winter habitat for colder months.

Ladybirds - The top and bottom rooms are ideal for them as they prefer nesting in dense materialsand they will use this as a hiding place at night. They are great at regulating unwanted pests suchas greenfl y and blackfl y. Mason bees - The room with the hollowed out wood provides ideal breeding tubes. They will shutthemselves away in the winter and come out in the spring ready to help pollenate your plants. Digger wasps - The two rooms with the smaller bamboo tubes are ideal for digger wasps who areextremely useful in the battle against greenfl y, blackfl y and leaf beetle larve. Wild bees - They also make use of the rooms with the smaller bamboo tubes as a suitable nestingspace and can be out ready for polinating in early spring or summer. Butterfl ies - Species such as Brimstone, Peacock, Small tortoise-shell and Admiral use the middleroom as a winter habitat and shelter during periods of bad weather ready for pollinating in spring/summer. Green lacewing - The bottom room is perfect for them as they love loosly stacked naturalmaterials to take shelter in. These lacewing feed on aphids, thrips and mealy bugs as well ashoneydew and nectar from herbs.
