CAMERA SHOTS

Typical Romantic Dramas often use close ups to show the

emotion on the characters faces. There is also frequent use of

two-shots as this allows the audience to see the relationship

develop.

In my film trailer, I will use many close-ups to show the emotion of

the characters. Two shots will also be a frequent feature as it

allows the audience see the relationship develop.

EDITING

Editing is determined on what part of the film it is. Slow more

relaxed edits for the romantic side and fast paced edits for the

drama parts.

In my film trailer, I will use a mixture of cuts, dissolves and fades to

show the romantic and drama element of the film and represents

the stage that the relationship is at.

MISE EN SCENÉ

Warm and comforting clothes are worn in the films.

In my film trailer, I will be considering the use of the above props

as they can represent memories which are commonly used in a

romantic drama film.

In my film trailer, I am using the female lead as the voiceover. This

is so the story comes from the female point of view giving the

audience an in-depth knowledge of the story.

THEMES

There are many themes that can be used in a romantic drama

film such as moving away, illness, bad habits and many more.

In my film trailer, I am using a storyline which involves a couple

get together and end up being biological brother and sister. I

believe this storyline is fairly unique which will enable me to be

more creative with the way the story is told.

CHARACTERS

A typical convention of a Romantic Drama is that a male meets

female storyline. I will be following this convention as it is a common

beginning of a storyline for a film and a lot can be got from this

storyline.

Another common factor is that the two characters have different

status’. I am considering using this genre as it highlights the love

between the characters and can also be a factor of the ‘problem’

that occurs in the film.

All these settings are being considered as being part of the film

trailer as they are typical places for a romantic couple to be.

Although I may also go against the normal locations and use a

lower class place to highlight the love between characters.

STORYLINES

In Romantic Drama films, there is normally a happy ending. I am

planning to have an happy ending as it creates a happy

atmosphere for the audience.

A typical feature involves two people meeting developing into a

relationship. This is the basis of my film as it is a way of showing the beginnings of a relationship between people.

An obstacle often occurs during the film. To present the drama

element to the film, I will be using this convention.

CONCLUSION

My film trailer will follow the majority of the conventions of a

romantic drama film.
