• I wanted to go slightly less conventional in terms of the style, but still keep the key themes usually found in my genre

• I chose to set my film in the 1970s, with the use of costume, sound and post production filters

The use of costume, filters and props allowed me to set the scene in this time period

• This is not a typical setting for a horror film, they usually take place in present day as it is usually more relatable for the audience and brings them into the fear

• There are a few exceptions such as Carrie and the Conjuring but they deal with more supernatural elements than Obsession so the audience is alright quite distant from the narrative

Most horror films are set in the present day such as Paranormal Activity and Saw

Other horror films set in the 1970s: Carrie and The Conjuring

• This is because most horror films are aimed at Demographic E, the unemployed and students who seek escapism and want to immerse themselves in the story. However I was aiming my film more at Demographic B, more creative media types (which is why I conducted targeted audience research on media students) that will take a step back and appreciate the work gone into creating a 70s style film

The genre of this project was thriller, more specifically stalker thriller. I conveyed this through the use of sound and editing, with long uncomfortable noises to build tension, as well as shocking ‘jumpy’ noises to coincide with the fast paced editing

Film TrailerThe narrative of my trailer follows the conventions of a horror trailer, with the beginning setting

the scene as calm and happy (the equilibrium)

Next is the disruption of the equilibrium, the introduction of the killer

Poster• My poster definitely follows the conventions of Horror posters,• The villain is hidden in the background as opposed to his whole face being revealed. • If we look at similar products to mine, we can see this idea of the villain at the top,

fading down to black makes them look more powerful and daunting.

• As we can see in these two posters, we get a small glimpse of the antagonists face, as if he is in the dark and a small amount of light shines down on him. It is the most iconic element of the character that is reveal, e.g. Jasons mask, Leatherfaces mask etc.

• For mine I decided I wanted just the eyes to be shown, to really convey this idea that he is watching over her.

• Eye iconography is used a lot in horror posters. (see below)

• I also wanted this idea of him physically being over her, so I placed him being higher in the poster and the outline of her and her dog along the bottom just over the title.

• This fits in with similar products and this idea of domination is a common theme in horror movies

MagazineMy poster fits very well with the conventions of this specific magazine, with quite unusual and unrealistic pictures, either drawn or displayed in some way artistically
