A few forms and conventions of a magazine are: Writing style Colour scheme Photography Page numbers Cover lines Barcode Price Date Font Etc.
Forms and conventions of a magazine
Every type of magazine uses these conventions but they use them in different ways to emphasise their style of magazine and what the magazine is about. I have used these conventions throughout my magazine so it poses as a real, professional magazine. These are the key features of a magazine and allow for individualism of a magazine and makes it unique.

MastheadsMy masthead
Existing product mastheads
In my masthead I have used the same style as the existing products by putting the head of the person in the picture over the masthead. I have also used colours that stand out to the audience which looks similar to the other three mastheads. I also used a similar style of font as these magazines. I followed the convention of putting the top of the picture over the masthead because it makes the picture look good and stops it from being partly blocked out.

Faded colour stripsThe faded colour strips on my contents page were taken from the djmag contents page below and adapted. I used the idea of having coloured boxes for each category on the page and then decided to have a new coloured box for each feature. I changed the opacity of the boxes so they faded into the picture and didn't affect the photo. I used a mixed colour scheme of light and dark colours similar to the djmag contents page. I used the idea as I saw it looked simple but still effective. I adapted it to suit my magazine and it adds an extra touch to the magazine. It also stops the photo from looking so plain and adds some colour to it.

My font and writing style
In the magazines I looked at they all had similar fonts and all had a casual writing style. They all used language which would only but understood by the target audience. I decided to follow this convention and used a similar font to the existing magazines and used a similar writing style. I followed this convention as it must work as all three existing magazines I looked at used a similar font and writing style.
