Term 1 – 2 update

Junior Entrepreneur are made upof the three Year 5/6 classes atNiue Primary School. The programis held over one hour lesson onMonday, Tuesday and Thursdaysin the mornings.

The focus for the classes this year are based on Sustainability – SustainableNiue. The program started in Term 2 in early May with over 25 students ineach class.

Students were encouraged to look at what sustainable business productscould be of interest to our local market and to move away from foodproducts.

This gave the students the opportunity to think outside the box and becreative with their ideas. By the end of Term 2 the Junior Entrepreneurs haddesigned their logos, decided on business names and have chosen theirproducts.

Miss Mele Yates class chose Niue for Life as their business name and they willbe working on their laufa (pandanus) purses at the start of Term 3. Eachstudent is to produce six bags in total - two bags in each size - large, mediumand small.

Miss Seini Vaileas class opted for Sustainable Pot Plants Holders (SPPH).They have decided to use four types of containers for their products -buckets, plastic bottles, empty cans and reusable wood boxes. Each containerwill have a different price point. SPPH will be working on making theirproducts in the new term.

Mrs Maria C Lagiono’s class, Junior Threads, are making Sustainable MaterialBags in three different sizes large, medium and small.

More information will be shared via a newsletter to parents, to notify whatthe students need for their Junior Entrepreneurs class in Term 3.
