Ammonoosuc River Auction Company
The Ammonoosuc River Auction Company is a well known establishment located at 3247 Route 302 in Lisbon which is owned and operated by Mike and Jan Carver.
Mike and Jan bought the 1781 farm property along the Ammonoosuc
River in 1996. After some renovations were done to the home and 3-story
barn, they opened Ammonoosuc River Trading Company and
Marketplace, an antique shop that gained respect for its large inventory of antique furniture, collectibles,
carpets, reproductions, and decorative accessories.
In 2002, Mike graduated the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering Resident Training in High Point, North
Carolina and Ammonoosuc River Auction Company was born!
Ammonoosuc River Auction Company holds 18 to 19 auctions each year at the auction barn. Mike gathers
things to sell throughout the year from local people looking to downsize or from local estates. Jan
photographs everything and promotes the sales in all the traditional ways and online, including through
social media. Mike and Jan specialize in estate auctions, but are known for selling a wide variety of things,
from collectible to practical, like furniture, coins, jewelry, equipment, firearms, household items, and
vehicles. Over the years, they have also conducted many commercial liquidations. There’s not much that
Mike hasn’t sold in his 17 years of auctions.
Mike and Jan’s auctions attract regular buyers from around New England, so their location close to Littleton
and I-93 is a real convenience.
Mike is a licensed auctioneer and appraiser in the states of NH and VT and does appraisals for local
individuals, estates, and insurance companies. He is also one of the original active auctioneers on the
popular live auction site, AuctionZip.com (Auctioneer ID#1085), which helps promote sales to buyers across
the country and in Canada.

Lisbon Jiu-Jitsu
Lisbon Jiu-Jitsu is located at 6 South Main Street in Lisbon. The owners Shawn and wife Rachel Meenan are very passionate about teaching their skills and knowledge to their students. Shawn grew up in Warminster, a suburb of Philadelphia, PA while Rachel is from Brooksville, Ohio. They both now reside in Littleton and like the Northern area best for it’s wildlife, nature and all the healthy outdoor activities that our rural area provides. Shawn discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) in 2004 and has been hooked ever since, while Rachel started her BJJ journey in 2013. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a type self defense and a sport that is a healthy addiction as well as a great way to get in shape. Those who participate in BJJ know that it is a tight knit community providing a support system that is unto itself bringing people together from all walks of life. Jiu-Jitsu has many excellent mental health benefits and it is a great outlet for stress. People suffering from PTSD will find peace in this activity. If you are in law enforcement, military or a security related occupation, the benefits of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are indispensable.
When Shawn and Rachel moved to Littleton Shawn learned that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was not available in the area and he wanted to continue his journey in this martial art. So instead of traveling distances of an hour or more to a BJJ academy, he and his wife took a chance on opening their own school locally in the White Mountains. When looking around for an affordable place to start their new journey
they came upon a storefront that was for rent in Lisbon on Main Street. Lisbon Jiu-Jitsu is unlike most other fitness services in the area. They provide month to month contracts so there is no long term financial obligation once you sign on the dotted line. They also have a youth program and a number of female members who are benefitting from all the things Jiu-Jitsu provides.
