Art in the LibraryUsing proceeds from the Library’s Used Book Sale and donations, the Hinsdale Public Library Art Committee recently purchased a painting by the Zhou Brothers. Renowned for their unique collaborative work process, the brothers own and manage the Zhou B

Art Space in Chicago and create commissioned work that is displayed internationally. A winter 2018 installation is planned.

This spring, the Library’s Art Committee will debut “Time Capsule for the trees – A tree-inspired art installation.” Chicago Artist Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford will create a free-standing “curiosity cabinet” that visitors can enter to view items contributed by residents symbolizing their appreciation for trees. The exhibit will be unveiled on Arbor Day, April 26, 2019. This initiative is funded, in part, by our Presenting Sponsor Bartlett Tree Experts and Sponsor Hinsdale Nurseries. Pet Supply and Food DriveThursday, December 6 through Wednesday, December 12

Help stock the shelves at the Hinsdale Humane Society’s new home. Show some pet love by dropping off a pet food item, toy, or supply. Wish list items include: canned dog and cat food, kitty litter, paper towels, and unscented HE laundry detergent.

Therapy dogs and their handlers will visit the Library on Sunday, December 9 to provide some holiday stress relief.

The Doings — DigitizedOur entire collection of The Doings from October 1896 through December 2017 has been digitized and will soon be available for in-library use. This digitization project was launched as part of the Library’s 125th Anniversary Celebration. Funding was provided by a bequest from the George R. Myrtle Trust.

We had a great time at our 125th anniversary celebration on September 29! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to celebrate with us.

Entrance Exam Practice Tests by Nurturing WisdomSaturdays, December 8, January 12 & February 9, 9:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Available tests include ACT and SAT for college bound students and SSAT, ISEE and HSPT secondary school entrance exams. All tests are available at all sessions. Please select the practice test you would like to take when registering. Test takers will receive a personalized analysis of their results from Nurturing Wisdom. All students should bring pencils, a snack/drink for the break and ACT/SAT students should also bring a calculator. Register by 9:00 p.m. on the Thursday prior to the test. Limit 20; preference given to Hinsdale residents. please sign up for only one test session per quarter.
