Nobles, Ladies and Friends of Moslah Shrine,Happy Easter to you and your family. What an exciting

time of year we are experiencing. Spring is in the air, the flowers are blooming and our crazy winter weather is behind us.

The last Sunday in March we had our annual Easter Egg hunt on the front lawn of the Temple. There was not a better sight to see than the Easter Bunny jump out of the convertible on Henderson Street to greet over one hundred and fifty happy kids and their parents. The Moslah Community

Band played jubilant tunes on the front landing of the Temple, the Daughters of the Nile Clownettes had face painting tables for the kids and a few adults too! Our volunteers made up of the DeMolay, Mystic Wheels, Bedouins, Flying Fez, Entertainment Committee and Clowns set the stage for a well run and fun program. Not only is this a fun event for our Temple, it demonstrates our level of teamwork by the Units and the Leadership of our High Priest and Prophet, Noble Gerald Letterbetter. I want to give a personal word of thanks for your hard work and dedication to Moslah.

We are right in the heart of busy times at Moslah. The Units are off to competition and fun at Mid-Winter. Please remember to share your experiences of what our Units are about to fellow Masons and friends who are not Shriners. Don’t forget your Legacy family members as well. We are continuing our all-out

Corner

Greetings Membership Committee members!Spring has sprung and so has your Membership Committee… to action

that is! If you missed the last stated meeting on March 8, you are in luck. Here is a quick update for you.

As of March 1st, our membership stands at 1582, but we elected a new noble to join us, so our loss for the year is now at 7. With the new election, that brings the number we need to satisfy Imperial Sir Berganske’s request for membership to 24. During the Membership report, I polled the brothers assembled about some things regarding membership and here are the results.

• When asked what the most important aspect of membership is at Moslah, 63% sited recruitment. In order for us to have a pool of recruits, please make sure you are using the IAMRU program on Webfez to refer good-quality brothers to join our fraternity.

• When asked about what they considered the most valuable part of membership was, 37% responded working with their clubs/units, 26% said getting to know other masons OUTSIDE of their lodge, while 33% said working on behalf of Shriner’s Hospitals for Children and 4% said it was the social events. All told, that means that 67% of Shriners value the social aspect. Have you invited someone recently to an event? Have you made an effort to attend and event? If not, how can we help? Send me an email [email protected] and I will do what I can to get you out and about!

• When asked if they could convince someone to be a Shriner in UNDER 2 MINUTES, 69% of the participants said they could. How about you? Do you have an idea about what you might say for your “elevator speech”? Here is a great website with some pointers to help you out and get you spiel ready! (http://bit.ly/2PITCH) You never know when it might be time!

• I asked the nobles assembled to put the shoe on the other foot for this one. When asked if they had been absent from unit/stated meetings for a while, 74% of respondents said that a personal phone call from a brother would help them to still feel valued, while 21% said an email from his unit would suffice. Long story short, admit it or not, we like to know that we are missed when we are not around! Have you checked in on an absent brother lately? It might just be the call they need to come back!

• If you knew a brother was suspended or had gone NPD, what would you do? 68% of respondents said that they would call and ask why, while 28% said that they would invite their brother out for a meal and ask why. The important thing to note here is that we need to keep in touch with each other and be willing to ask how we can help!

Looking forward, make sure to attend the party on the 7th of April hosted by Moslah and the Mystic Wheels! Get out your best 70’s attire and get ready to burn up the dance floor! PLEASE bring those you have referred though IAMRU so that they can get a glance at what they can enjoy as a Moslah Shriner. Admission is free and so is the fun!

Pay close attention in the next few months for an exciting announcement regarding our very own Moslah Shrine App! It will be everything you need to help recruit at your fingertips!I AM, R U committed to membership? Until next month,

– Cody Cox, Membership Chair

2018 MOSLAH BEDOUINS

April

Bedouins Out and About!

Spring Formal:

Celebrating our Bedouin Veterans at the Bedouin USO!

Friday, April 20th, at 7:00

Diamond Oaks Country Club

5821 Diamond Oaks Dr.

Ft. Worth, TX 76117

We will be dancing to the music of the 40s to the present, commemorating 75 years of the USO and our Veterans’ service. Photo Booth and more.

The Bedouins have been busy so far this year, with our Bedouin Night Outs at Macaluso’s and Los Vaquerros in March. We have more already planned, to include Concert in the Gardens in June. The Bedouins are active in getting together to create a feeling of Family and getting together each month has been a great way to stay close.

HFD Street Corners are coming up this month, and the Bedouins are once again looking to get the Fez out there to the public and bring in much needed revenue for our hospitals.

You don’t need to be a musical prodigy to join the Bedouins! We are always looking for new members to join us for the fun and excitement of performing and helping the Shrine Children.

Caliph Chris

Dear Moslah Nobles, Ladies and Friends, April 13th and 14th will be our annual Storefront and Street Corner Collections. As a Noble of Moslah and Shriners International this is an obligation we take to support our hospitals. As a fraternity this brings us together like no other organization in support of the work done by the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers at twenty two hospitals! The Moslah Units work hard bringing their members out in support. I am asking all of our members (and their ladies) that are not members of a UNIFORMED UNIT to help us on April 13th and 14th. I guarantee you will be paid back in thanks from the strangers you meet as well as your brothers working the streets with you. Please call the Moslah office at 817-335-9469 to sign up and get the details. If you have any questions please call HFD Chairman Trace Brooks at 817-821-2028 or Assistant Rabban Jeff Eaton at 817-944-9528 Yours in the Faith, Jeff Eaton-Assistant Rabban

Car-VettesWE RIDE SO CHILDREN CAN WALK

OK April, you’re really going to have to perform to beat the showers we had back in February! We guys have been anxious to get those lawn mowers fired up. This month starts off with Easter Sunday and it›s also April Fools’ Day (don’t get the two mixed up) on the 1st, National Beer Day (liquid bread) on the 7th, Tax Day (ouch) on the 17th, San Jacinto Day (we won, thank God!) on the 21st, maybe plant a new tree for Arbor Day on the 27th and last, but not least, is the NFL draft on the 27th & 28th. In addition, Moslah has the temple party on the 7th (Hmmm, that’s also Beer Day), wine tasting (no business meeting) on the 12th, and of course, the HFD on the 13th and 14th. Looks like a good month!

What about parades? Your Car-Vettes showed off our stuff at the Mansfield Pickle Parade on March 17. It was a really good parade day, nice weather and a good turn out by the people. It was kinda nice to see that we weren’t the only unit there! The Bedouin band really sounded good and got lots of attention also! Please units and brothers, try to go to the really special Medal of Honor parade in Gainesville this month on April 8. It’s a great time and you will see some of the brave men who have earned that very special medal. It’s another good time to wear red, white and blue and of course your fez if you want!

We Car-vettes did our IHOP thing in the great town of Decatur and lots of people showed up. We wore our bright yellow shirts and got a lot of smiles and nice comments. We even were presented a nice official proclamation from the Decatur Mayor, Martin Woodruff. It’s good to be a Shriner, knowing that children in need will be taken care of in our hospitals. Maybe you can find a brother Mason who likes to help children and also likes to have family type fun; invite him to join us!

Betcha didn’t know... • That close to 80% of the printed US currency is in 100

dollar bills. An estimated value of two-thirds of all the U.S. currency is in circulation outside of the U.S.

• That we are born with 300 bones, but end up with 206. Yes, as we age, some of our bones join together and the total number diminishes.

• On August 17, 1957, baseball Hall of Famer Donald “Richie” Ashburn hit a foul ball into the stands that struck spectator Alice Roth, breaking her nose. When play resumed Ashburn fouled off another ball that struck her while she was being carried off in a stretcher.

BTW... have you ever forwarded the Moslah News on to a non-Shriner mason friend of yours so he can read it also? It just may gain his curiosity enough for you to recruit him into the Shrine.

Nobles... if you are looking to join a unit that will give you a big reason to be proud and have camaraderie and enjoyment for your entire family, look no further. The Car-Vettes is the one for YOU! Yep, you too can proudly wear one of our bright yellow unit shirts and maybe drive one of the classy looking little yellow cars (it’s a specialized grown up go-cart). Just join our unit and get involved with our activities. We offer a positive, friendly and fun family environment to enrich your Shrine experience. If any Noble would like more information or to test drive one of our cool looking yellow cars, all you have to do is let us know. Don’t be bashful, you can contact President Frank Treadaway at 817-832-5964, Colonel Cecil LeMond at 817-247-0246, or really, any of our members. We are a VERY proud bunch of fellas and will be happy to talk to you about our specialized unit.

– Chuck Huddleston, Car-Vettes

Greetings and salutations from the Solid Gold Patrol.

March was a very busy month, beginning with the Patrol Midwinter at the Omni La Mansion De La Rio Hotel in San Antonio. We had a great time with the river cocktail cruise Saturday afternoon and dinner Saturday night at Barriba Cantina. March continued with another successful Patrol Sporting Clays tournament. Additionally, we welcomed our first new member of the year, James Johnson.

Patrol will be attending the Moslah Shrine 70’s party on April 7, so get your leisure suits ready! Additionally, the Patrol spring party will be at Lone Star Park on April 28. The races that day will not just be thoroughbreds, but will also include exotic animal races.

Don’t forget, Hospital Fund Drive store fronts and street corners will be April 13 and 14. We will probably have the same corner on University we have had the past few years, so we need everyone to show up and collect money for the Hospitals.

Drill practice continues every Monday and Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Shrine Center.

If you want more information, do not hesitate to contact me. – Jim Schneider, President [email protected]

Nobles and Ladies...Spring has sprung and we’re

all just dipping our toes in the pool... goodbye to winter. The Colonel has both teams out, running through the drill, and stretching the machines out a bit. TSA competition will be here soon.

It was great to have the families at our March meeting. City Kitchens catered the event and it was a wonderful time. Food was outstanding and what a turnout. Nice to have the ladies and kids supporting our efforts. Thanks, Ladies!

We will be fielding a parade team to ride in the Pickle Parade. Should be a great time to get the FEZ before the public.

The Mystic Wheels will be sponsoring the Moslah Easter Egg Hunt, from stuffing the eggs, to hiding them, and monitoring the hunt itself. It’s always fun to be the Easter bunny! If you are a Moslah noble and want to help out with this please give us a call.

Hospital Fund Drive will be here soon and we invite any Moslah noble not already assigned a street corner to come help us. You’ll have a great time, meet the guys!

We invite all Moslah nobles and ladies to visit / like our Facebook Page for even more details of events and pictures/videos.

Moslah Noble, are you and your family looking for a unit home? Would you like to join a great group of Masonic brothers, make lasting friendships, enjoy life, and be part of a winning team? Would you like to experience that thrill of competition once more? Have boatloads of fun? The Mystic Wheels can provide all that and more.

We are a family-oriented go kart group with the ladies and kids at all our events! We ride inexpensive traditional, open wheel go karts that are really fun and easy to drive. In addition, we are very active in all temple and blue lodge activities.

Call Brett Wiesner 817 360-7585, Bob Roth 703 509-7773 or Bill Jones 608-6678 for information and a visit. Come see why so many have made us their unit home... still the LARGEST and friendliest motorized unit in Texas!

Hello from the Directors. April will be a very busy month

for us. We plan to attend the Temple 70’s party on April 7, and are gearing up for the Hospital Fund Drive Store Fronts and Street Corners on April 13 and 14. Work continues on our hot stunt for TSA in

Directors

Spring is arriving soon and we have a full calendar in the month of April. We start the month with our monthly Golf Unit Meeting on April 4, followed by a Membership Party at the Temple on Saturday April 7. We are having a 70’s Party so get the bell bottoms, polyester suit, and platform shoes out and get ready to groove out, dancing away to the old 70 songs you all know. Sunday, the 8th we will be having our Spring Fling at David & Susan Peterson’s house. Ribs will be the main course cooked by David Peterson & Dickie Edwards. Dickie is one of our newest members, whom we welcome along with Lady Naomi. It’s Masters Weekend for all golfers so we will be watching the golf tournament and toasting to our fellowship, while eating award winning ribs.

The Business Meeting is on April 12. We will be having a Wine Tasting/Dinner in lieu of a meeting. Bring a friend, couple, or golf mate for free and join our own Illustrious Sir Jeff Barcafar and his Lady Diana and the entire Divan for a fun-filled event. Next, we have the annual Hospital Fund Drive with Storefronts on Friday, the 13th and Street Corners on Saturday, the 14th. We are on the corner of Bryant Irvin and Overton Ridge which is extremely busy. We expect to collect lots of cash for our children’s hospitals while having a great day. Please put on your sunscreen and enjoy collecting.

Later in April we will be in Galveston representing Moslah at TSGA. This is our annual golf outing where we compete against all the other participating Temples in Texas. We have 7 confirmed golfers with their ladies heading to Galveston for the event on April 26-27.Cheer us all on!!

Update your informationNobles All,

Keeping your Moslah Shrine membership data current is important. It is now very easy and fast to check and update. Simply go to webfez.shrinenet.org/home/ dashboard. Click on Log In if you are already registered, or click Register and give your email address as your code and make up a password. Then click on My Record.

Now you can search your information and update anything that you might need to change. It’s a good idea to do this at least twice a year to keep your records accurate.

Thanks,John Henderson, Business Manager

effort in membership and our Units happen to be a great way to promote fun as well as fulfill our needs for Hospital Fund Drive efforts. Yes, street corners and store fronts are here! Mark the Calendar for April 13 and 14. Moslah continues the great tradition of supporting our Texas hospitals so let’s hit the streets in force. If you are not a member of a Uniformed Unit but would like to help, please call the office, we have a corner for you to work. In addition, anyone over 18 and ladies are encouraged to help!

In lieu of our April business meeting, we will have a WINE TASTING AND DINNER, THURSDAY, APRIL 12, 6:00 PM. Our own Trace Brooks is WSET Level 3 Qualified -20 plus years of experience. Very few places can you experience this level of fun so plan to attend. Cost is $20 per person and $40 per couple. It is a membership event so bring someone who is not a member of Moslah at no cost!

Get out your leisure suits, bell bottoms and big earrings for the 70’s party at the Temple. Saturday April 7 from 7-11pm. Prizes for best costume, live music and refreshments provided. This is a no cost membership event so bring friends!

Sounds groovy to me! See you all there.Other important Shrine events to note:

• Medal of Honor Parade, Gainesville April 7. The Carvettes will be there!

• Grandmasters Conference at the Temple, May 19. Please be there to support our part as Shrine Masons

• Annual Memorial Service. Temple, May 20. If you have never experienced this event please take one hour out of your weekend and visit. Not only is this a tribute to our Brothers who have passed, it is an honor to what we as Shiners do for each other and our families.

Please check out our WEB PAGE at www.moslahshire.org and our FACEBOOK PAGE at Moslah Shriners for all events and news.

Thank each and every one of you for being part of Moslah. We are unique in what we have as Shriners and Shrine family. Keep up the good work for our Hospitals and Fraternity!

Yours in the Faith,– Jeff Barcafar, 2018 Potentate
