Traditional Medicine in Iran• First written information on

properties and therapeutic uses of Medicinal Plants in “Avesta book”.

• 250 AC Jondishapour university in actual Khouzistan province was an important scientific center, especially in the field of Medicinal Plants based drugs. This university had also a hospital and produced different kind of herbal based drugs.

• In 550 AC, a world medical congress which gathered medical practitioners from all over the world was organized in Tysphon.

• Actually TM practices are widespread through all over the country and the Ministry of Health is doing great efforts to enhance and standardize these activities.

• Enterprises and products: more than 34 enterprises involved in medicinal plants related activities and more than 300 medicinal plants species available at commercial scale have been identified.

• Standards and regulations: available.• News: already functional. One of the goals assigned to this
