LYNN CROSBY’S MESSAGE
NOVEMBER 2012
Leading Knight
Steve Hagen’s Corner
Woke up to snow this morning, that can only mean
that this Elk year is starting to wind down. No more
Taco Tuesdays or Spaghetti Tuesday; they will be missed.
We do have Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner still
ahead of us. But it is time for everyone to take a brake
for the winter. Hats off to all the crew members and
volunteers that made this another successful year for our
Lodge.
Our snow bird members are in the process of
leaving, and will be sorely missed. Can’t wait to see their
tanned and smiling faces again this spring when they
return to the mountains. At that time, I will be installed
as E. R. for the year, and look forward to your assistance
and everyone’s help to make 2013 a successful year for
the Lodge.
I’m still looking for commitments for chair posi-
tions in the Lodge. Currently, Leading Knight-Esquire-
Chaplin-Inner Guard- and Tyler have not been
filled. Don’t miss a meeting, you may be elected. Ha-
Ha. I’m also looking for someone to take over as Yard
Sale chairperson for 1 year. Larry Holt will be needing
help in the bar, as I will have to back off on my duties
there also. We will need someone to chair the 4th of July
celebration as Eric is stepping down from this func-
tion. Thanks Eric for all the work you’ve put into this
event these past years. Eric will continue to chair the
infamous Crab feed in January.
Monday night football at the lodge is in full swing,
and the potluck format is working out well. All who are
participating are having a great time and the meals have
been spectacular. Hope to see you on any and every
Monday night. Go Niners! We had a good crowd at the
last Family night Dinner, thank you Bob & Katie for the
great meal. If you have any old family recipes you like to
test out next year, please sign up for a Family night din-
ner, we had openings this year.
The first of November we will be attending Mid
term in Sacramento , and am looking forward to more
exposure on the State level. I’ll give a follow up report in
next months’ bulletin.
Leading Knight--Steve Hagen
November is shaping up as a busy month for our lodge. Sunday November 11th is our lodge Hoop Shoot. I have sev-eral volunteers, but all are welcome. We will meet at Portola High School at 10:30 AM to setup the gym. The students arrive at 11:00 AM and the competition starts at 12:00 noon. Let hope we have a good turnout this year. Tuesday November 13th is the annual lunch for our adopted veterans and long term care patients. This a rewarding event and would like to see lots of participation from the membership. Vote November 6th then head to the Mohawk Community Center to donate blood. The number is 836- 4446. Family Night Dinner is on the 14th. Turkey and the and all the trimmings will be served. Reserve your place by the 11th. Welcome new member Gary Romero. Hope we see you at the Lodge. For all that are traveling be safe and have a have a great Thanksgiving. Hope this snow is not a preview of what is coming this winter. Lynn, ER--530-412-2249
Hello Ladies: I am sorry I missed addressing you last month, so here is two months’ of up-dates.
We voted to give E.P.C.A.N and Project Santa $300.00. We also decided to participate in Operation Shoe Box Supporting Our Troops . With the help of the Elk’s, Lady Elks, Bingo, and extra do-nations from Linda Boucher and Doris Olsen, we were able to pur-chase $361.00 worth of food. A Big Thank You to everyone! It felt great to give to those in need. On the 23rd, we had our Ladies Night Out at Coyote Grill, and what a turnout. We had a lot of fun and the food was great! The Lady Elks, Elks and Moreda’s all pitched in a third to help Katie purchase a new printer. As most of you know, she prints up all our correspondence we use for our Event’s. In September we had our Sock Hop. Again, support was poor and most that attended were from the Sierra Cascade Car Club out of Quincy. Thank you to Don & Linda Boucher, Karen & Tom Ma-reina, David Gregorich, Kimberly Voigt, Pat & Georgia Blake, and Brittany Knudson. Without them, the event would have never taken place. Linda Knudson, President

For those of you who rarely attend a regular meeting, one membership number is drawn each meeting. If no one wins, the amount goes up $5 each meeting until it reaches $50. If no one wins the $50, we then start a se-cond drawing at $25 and goes up $5 each meeting until someone wins that one. There could be two $50 drawings at each meeting until someone win. We allow the person who’s number was drawn and not in attendance, to claim half of the prize, providing you attend the next two meet-
ings. WE NEED YOUR ATTENDANCE! That’s where you can express your concerns, and vote on Lodge business. It’ also an opportunity to get to know your fellow Lodge members and make new friends.
