Accessing Your Colleague Personal and Pension Benefit Statements From Mary Starmann-Harrison, President and CEO, Hospital Sisters Health System

Dear Colleague,

When we consider how much we earn each year from HSHS, we sometimes only focus on the amount of money that is deposited into our bank account each pay period. However, we should not forget our “hidden paycheck,” which includes the benefits paid by HSHS.

To proactively care for our environment and become more efficient, we are issuing HSHS colleagues this email (instead of post mailing this information) to access your online statements, summary of your benefits, and total compensation for 2015.

1. 2015 Personal Benefit Statement - This online statement provides you with detailed information regarding your benefits, PTO, EIB/short-term disability and annual salary. The “hidden” benefit costs that are paid by your employer are compared to your costs. On average, the employer-paid cost of benefits accounts for 28% of each colleague’s total compensation. It may be surprising to you to see how much your employer has added to your total compensation through the wide range of benefits that are provided.

2. 2016 Pension Benefit Statement - You may receive one of the following:

» Traditional Defined Benefit Pension Plan - If you were hired prior to July 1, 2014, are eligible to participate in the HSHS Traditional Defined Benefit Pension Plan, and under age 65, a pension benefit statement has been prepared to help you estimate what you might expect as a monthly pension benefit when you retire. If you are age 65 or older and would like an estimate of your HSHS accrued pension benefit, please contact the HSHS Colleague Service Center by email ([email protected]) or by phone at 1-855-FYI-HSHS (1-855-394-4747).

» Cash Balance Benefit - If you were hired or rehired on or after July 1, 2014 and eligible to participate in the HSHS Pension Plan with a Cash Balance benefit, a pension benefit statement has been prepared for you which shows the balance of your account including employer contribution and interest credits. If you contribute to the HSHS 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan, the employer match is also included if you are eligible.

The cost of your pension benefit is paid entirely by your employer. Without an employer-paid pension benefit, you would have to save significantly more for retirement.

Update your contact information for “Send Word Now” for use in emergency and severe weather situations

The recent Anhydrous Ammonia leak situation was a reminder that any day, we could be faced with a situation where extra staff might need to be contacted at a moment’s notice. Although it was not used in that situation, it is the exact type of situation that we might use our “Send Word Now” (SWN) Alerting Service and Weather Blast, to help us communicate with you during emergency and severe weather conditions.

Through SWN, we can contact you, in mass during times of crisis, via your home, work, and mobile phone numbers as well as your home and work email addresses.

To ensure that you receive important communication through SWN, we are asking all colleagues and physicians to review and update their contact information.

Colleagues can do so by completing the following steps: • Log in to PeopleSoft through SAMNet.• Click Personal Information under Self

Service in the Main Menu.

• Click the individual categories to review, edit, and update your information. Please make sure that your mobile, home and main phone numbers are accurate, as well as your business and other email addresses. Also, make sure your main number listed is the one you want to be contacted at in case of an emergency.

Physicians can update their contact information with Medkinetics by contacting our Medical Staff Office at 347-1294.

We understand the privilege we have with SWN system and have processes in place to ensure that privilege is not abused. You should only receive notifications during true, emergency situations, such as the recent weather crisis.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we strive to be better prepared to serve our communities during times of need. If you have questions about updating your information for Send Word Now, contact the People Services department at Ext. 1335.
