Old Testament - Great and Precious Promises

Why Jesus was preaching about a knowledge of the truth.1. Jesus came to the earth to bring a knowledge of the truth because the whole world hasbeen lied to. Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am aking. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bearwitness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. (Joh 18:37 KJV)

Pilate said to Him, Then You are a King? Jesus answered, You say it! [You speakcorrectly!] For I am a King. [Certainly I am a King!] This is why I was born, and for thisI have come into the world, to bear witness to the Truth. Everyone who is of the Truth[who is a friend of the Truth, who belong to the Truth] hears and listens to My voice.(Joh 18:37 AMP)

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, whichdeceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out withhim. (Rev 12:9 KJV)

Rev 18:11-13 KJV And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; forno man buyeth their merchandise any more: (12) The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and allthyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, (13) And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, andfrankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

Religious Babylon (Revelation 17) Commercial Babylon (Revelation 18)

(NOTE) The New Testament lets us know that religion is a terrible thing and not to be protected butcondemned

Religion and Christianity are not synonymous!

Religion and Christiansnism are synonymous!

The word Christian was originally use in the time of scripture to identify followers or believers in the Lord Jesus

the Christ. The original followers of Jesus called each other and identified themselves as being of the “Way”.

Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father exceptby (through) Me. Joh 14:6 AMP

And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. (3) And as hejourneyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light fromheaven: Act 9:2-3 KJV

Acts 9:2

Of this way (τη?ς ο%δου?)

Rev., more correctly, “the way.” A common expression in the Acts for the Christian religion: “thecharacteristic direction of life as determined by faith on Jesus Christ” (Meyer). See Act_19:9;Act_22:4; Act_24:22. For the fuller expression of the idea, see Act_16:17; Act_18:25.

Act 11:26 KJV And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to

pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much

people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to theweak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Gal 4:9 KJV Now, however, that you have come to be acquainted with and understand and know [the true] God, or rather to be understood and known by God, how can you turn back againto the weak and beggarly and worthless elementary things [of all religions before Christ came],whose slaves you once more want to become? RELIGION, n. relij'on. [L. religio, from religo, to bind anew; re and ligo, to bind. This word seemsoriginally to have signified an oath or vow to the gods, or the obligation of such an oath or

vow, which was held very sacred by the Romans.]

Why did Saint Peter and Saint Jude and the Apostle Paul all preach and teach about false teacher andbelievers being merchandised by men and/or religion?

New Covenant revelation and instruction by the Apostle PeterBut there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachersamong you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that boughtthem, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.(2Pe 2:1 KJV)And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evilspoken of. (2Pe 2:2 KJV)And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whosejudgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. (2Pe 2:3 KJV)

New Covenant revelation and instructions by the Apostle PaulNow therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and ofthe household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christhimself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto anholy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through theSpirit. (Ephesians 2:19-22 KJV)

But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence andthe rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. (Hebrews 3:6 KJV)

Jesus teaching Old Covenant believers.Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den ofthieves. (Luke 19:46 KJV)

New Covenant revelation and instruction by the Apostle Paul

And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we

have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: (Gal 2:4 KJV)

Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. (Philippians 3:2 KJV)

Watch out for those dogs, those men who do evil, those mutilators of the flesh. Php 3:2 NIV

Revelation of Jesus

For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoeverloveth and maketh a lie. (Revelation 22:15 KJV)

Prophecy concerning Jesus

For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my handsand my feet. (Psalms 22:16 KJV)

Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog. (Psalms 22:20 KJV)

Jesus teaching Old Covenant believers.Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they tramplethem under their feet, and turn again and rend you. (Matthew 7:6 KJV)

New Covenant revelation and instruction by the Apostle Paul

Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: forthe letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 2Co 3:6 KJV

But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly mademanifest among you in all things. (2 Corinthians 11:6 KJV)

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles ofChrist. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is nogreat thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shallbe according to their works. (2 Corinthians 11:13-15 KJV)

New Covenant revelation and instruction by St Jude

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, itwas needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye shouldearnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. (4) For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old

ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our Godinto lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord JesusChrist. Jud 1:3-4 KJV

I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how thatthe Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed themthat believed not. Jud 1:5 KJV

But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of theapostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; (18) How that they told you there shouldbe mockers in the last time, whoshould walk after their own ungodly lusts. (19) These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.(20) But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Jud 1:17-20 KJV

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence ofhis glory with exceeding joy, (25) To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Jud 1:24-25 KJV

The goal of the false teachers is to keep the followers, deciple, the believers in Jesus being the only way tothe Father, confused and double minded, ever learning and never knowing the truth.

Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by

(through) Me. Joh 14:6 AMP

Joh 1:18 KJV No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, whichis in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

exeðgeomai, ex-ayg-eh'-om-ahee, From G1537 and G2233; to consider out

(aloud), that is, rehearse, unfold: - declare, tell.

We, the believers, need to realize that we are under a New Covenant and stop letting anyone minister the Old Covenant to us in any form or fashion not in line with the New Covenant’s directions for its use!

Now these things are examples (warnings and admonitions) for us not todesire or crave or covet or lust after evil and carnal things as they did.[Num. 11:4, 34.]1Co 10:6 AMP

2Co 3:3-6 KJV Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered byus, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, butin fleshy tables of the heart. (4) And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: (5) Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our

sufficiency is of God; (6) Who also hath made us able ministers ofthe new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the

letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

2Co 3:6 AMP [It is He] Who has qualified us [making us to be fit and worthy andsufficient] as ministers and dispensers of a new covenant [of salvation throughChrist], not [ministers] of the letter (of legally written code) but of the Spirit;for the code [of the Law] kills, but the [Holy] Spirit makes alive. [Jer. 31:31.]

2Co 3:7-18 MSG The Government of Death, its constitution chiseled on stone tablets, had a dazzling inaugural. Moses' face as he delivered the tablets was so bright that day(even though it would fade soon enough) that the people of Israel could no more lookright at him than stare into the sun. (8) How much more dazzling, then, theGovernment of Living Spirit? (9) If the Government of Condemnation wasimpressive, how about this Government of Affirmation? (10) Bright as that oldgovernment was, it would look downright dull alongside this new one. (11) Ifthat makeshift arrangement impressed us, how much more this brightlyshining government installed for eternity? (12) With that kind of hope to exciteus, nothing holds us back. (13) Unlike Moses, we have nothing to hide. Everything is

out in the open with us. He wore a veil so the children of Israel wouldn't notice that theglory was fading away-- (14) and they didn't notice. They didn't notice it then andthey don't notice it now, don't notice that there's nothing left behind that veil. (15) Even today when the proclamations of that old, bankrupt government areread out, they can't see through it. Only Christ can get rid of the veil so theycan see for themselves that there's nothing there. (16) Whenever, though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are--face to face! (17) They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personalpresence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present, aliving Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We'refree of it! (18) All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining withthe brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters ourlives and we become like him.

2Co 4:17 AMP For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) isever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for usan everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing allcomparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory andblessedness never to cease!],

Heb 8:6-13 KJV But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is themediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. (7) For ifthat first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for thesecond. (8) For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: (9) Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I tookthem by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not inmy covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. (10) For this is the covenantthat I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put mylaws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, andthey shall be to me a people: (11) And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the leastto the greatest. (12) For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins andtheir iniquities will I remember no more. (13) In that he saith, A new covenant, he hathmade the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Eph 2:4-10 KJV But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, (5) Even when we weredead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) (6) And hath raised us uptogether, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: (7) That in the ages to come hemight shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. (8) For bygrace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lestany man should boast. (10) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, whichGod hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The translation reads, "By grace have you been completely saved, with the present result thatyou are in a saved state of being." The perfect tense speaks of the existence of finished

13

results in present time. But Paul is not satisfied with showing the existence of finishedresults in present time. He wants to show the persistence of results through presenttime. So he uses the verb "to be" in the present tense which gives durative force to thefinished results. Thus, the full translation is, "By grace you have been saved inpast time completely, with the result that you are in a state of salvation whichpersists through present time." The unending state of the believer in salvationcould not have been put in stronger or clearer language. The finished resultsof the past act of salvation are always present with the reader. His presentstate of salvation is dependent upon one thing and one thing only, his pastappropriation of the Lord Jesus as Saviour. His initial act of faith brought himsalvation in its three aspects, justification, the removal of the guilt and penaltyof sin and the impartation of a positive righteousness, Jesus Christ Himself, anact which occurs at the moment of believing, and a position that remains staticfor time and eternity; sanctification, positional, the act of the Holy Spirit takingthe believing sinner out of the first Adam with his (Adam’s) sin and death, andplacing him in the Last Adam (Jesus Christ) with His righteousness and life, anact that occurs at the moment of believing; progressive, the process by whichthe Holy Spirit eliminates sin from the experience of the believer and producesHis fruit, gradually conforming him into the image of the Lord Jesus, a processthat goes on all through the life of a Christian and continues all througheternity, and which never is completed, for a finite creature can never equal aninfinite one in any quality; and glorification, the act of the Holy Spirit, transforming the mortal bodies of believers into glorified, perfect bodies at theRapture of the Church. The believer has had his justification, he is having hissanctification, and he is yet to have his glorification. The earnest of the Spiritguarantees to him his glorification.

"Hath raised us up together" is sunegeirō. Expositors translates, "Raised us with Him," andcomments: "That is, to life now, in a present spiritual sense. The sunegeirō expressesthe definite idea of resurrection, and primarily that of physical resurrection. Theintroduction of this term and the following makes it not improbable that both ideas, thatof the present moral resurrection and that of the future bodily resurrection, were inPaul’s mind, and that he did not sharply distinguish between them, but thought of themas one great gift of life."

"Made us sit together" is the translation of sunkathizō, which Expositors translates, Seated us (or,enthroned us) with Him in the heavenlies, and comments: "Made us sharers withHim in dignity and dominion, so that even now, and in foretaste of our futureexaltation, our life and thought are raised to the heavenlies where He reigns."

As to the phrase "in Christ Jesus," the same authority says: "Not the ’seated us with Him’ only, but the whole statement is qualified by this. This quickening, this resurrection, thisseating of us with Him take effect in so far as we are in Him as ourRepresentative, having our life and our completeness in our Head."

Translation: But God, being wealthy in the sphere of mercy, because of His great love with whichHe loved us, and we being dead with respect to our trespasses, made us alive togetherwith the Christ, by grace have you been saved completely in past time, with the present
