Spectrophotometric and Optical Standards
NIST Traceable
The UV and/or visible spectrophotometer is a widely used analytical tool based on a solution’s ability to absorb light.
This classic instrument is used for both qualitative and quantitative determinations from molecular identification and assays to colorimetric determination of specific ions..
Procedures for using spectrophotometers have been developed in response to inspections by both quality
assurance departments and by regulatory bodies.
Proof of instrument validation must be available to regulatory bodies upon request; therefore laboratories
need to make sure that the instrument is within specification..
The In-spec® line provides precise, ready to use standards for spectrophotometer verification that are
both affordable and traceable.
Because some applications require thinking that is outside the box, GFS also strives to work with
customers to quickly formulate products that solve specific needs.
Benefits of Using In-Spec®

In-Spec UV Standards
• Designed for use in the UV range of the spectrum.
• 10 different stock solutions of varying concentrations so you can usually find a solution that is close to the values that you see from your samples.
• If you need more exact values we can usually create a custom solution to your specifications.
In-Spec Visible Standards
• The In-Spec® Visible Standards are designed for use in the visible range of the spectrum.
• 6 different stock solutions of varying concentrations.
Stray Light Standards
• Potassium Iodide• Sodium Iodide• Lithium Carbonate• Sodium Chloride• Potassium Chloride
• Available sealed in a 10mm quartz cuvette or 60mL bottle.
• Testing for stray light is a good indicator of the overall health of the spectrophotometer’s optics, grating, and deuterium lamp.
Custom Standards
• GFS Chemicals has the ability to work with you to figure what exactly is needed for your application and whether we have a solution that will solve your problem.
• As the manufacturer we have the ability to make standards to order and to do R&D to find a solution to fit your application.
Other Custom Standards:
• Custom Concentrations of the UV and Visible Standards.
• Custom Concentrations of the Dye Standards.
• R & D capabilities to discover alternative solutions to fit your application.
Offering Three Wavelength Standards
• To verify that your instrument’s wavelength scale is accurate.
• They come sealed in a 10mm quartz cuvette, are certified for 4 years and recertification is available.
Holmium Oxide
• The traditional wavelength check with 14 peaks between 241nm and 640nm.
Didymium Perchlorate
• Offers 14 peaks between 298nm and 865nm.
• It is a good option for those who are mainly checking in the Visible range and want to be able to check more points when compared to Holmium Oxide.
Samarium Oxide
• Has 13 peaks between 235nm and 479nm.
• Can check at a lower wavelength then what is available with Holmium Oxide.
