Judith Thomas holds a doctorate on the learning experiences of refugee secondary

students and has taught secondary trainee teachers of EALD(English as an Additional

Language/Dialect) and language students at the tertiary level. Her experience also

covers a strong international background at both the secondary and tertiary levels.

Judith is a dedicated educator and is passionate about helping students achieve

success regardless of ability and background.

Leu is passionate about the delivery of quality training and has over 30 years of business and

technology experience, training and facilitating within Government, private sectors and

simulated business environments.

Leu specialises in the delivery of competency-based units within Management,

Business/Administration, Information Technology, Front Line Management, Government

and Financial Service.

Leu is a patient, enthusiastic and a focused trainer who communicates clearly and e�ectively

Education &Training of Adults, quali�cations in Business Management, Hospitality,

Real Estate, Project Management, Retail and Police studies. She has 40 years’

experience in Business Management in private and corporate sectors and has

trained extensively for Government Departments and private Registered Training

Organisations for both Domestic and International clients. She has owned and

managed 2 Cafes, a Restaurant, a Real Estate Franchise O�ce, and worked as an

Entertainment and Events Coordinator.

Ann currently works as a Business Development Manager and Consultant and as an

Industry Trainer and Assessor and a Mentor and Coach. She is a strong advocate of

continual learning and innovation in Business Leadership and Management and

Personal Development.

Laknath Watawala is associated with the Diploma of Information Technology. He is a

Computer Science and Engineering graduate from University of Oxford, UK. He is well

experienced in lecturing, training and curriculum developing in both tertiary and

vocational education sectors across multiple local and overseas educational

institutions.

He has trained students from diverse backgrounds and developed tailor made

Course Introduction

The award is recognised as an international quali�cation for TESOL teachers and teachers of languages and literacy. The program is o�ered face-to-face, online and in mixed mode including as intensive seminars. The Diploma is based on current research on language learning. The Diploma engages students with the theory and practice of text-based teaching in six subjects including curriculum, research, assessment, methodology and evaluation.

The Diploma is designed as the professional quali�cation for primary, secondary and tertiary teachers of language. The course introduces teachers and students to functional languages teaching which is an evidence-based design for teaching with texts. The design challenges traditional language teaching methods with the application of functional linguistics in the text-based model of teaching. Critical features of the course are students’ placements in partner schools, practical teaching experiences and inquiry-based assignments with documentation and analysis of data. Students receive study resources and have opportunities for individual consultations with lecturers.
