In Reflection

Now the bed that bears my weight is not only my bed The pillow that I plead against The wall I whisper words towards The sheets that shelter over me Not only mine The gaze that warms my face is not the sun The breath that brushes my skin is not the wind The salt that stings me, The arms that embrace, The water that wets me not the sea And the light that fills my eyes not the sky Now the hair on my head, On my arms, on my chest, not just mine. The tongue that licks my lips, That touches my teeth, That moves my mouth is not my tongue. The fingers that feel, The teeth that tease, The mouth that moans not mine. And when I awake The eyes that meet my eyes are not my eyes, The hand that holds my hand, not my hand, The tears that cool my cheek, not my tears The blood on the bed not just mine Does what I’ve done show in my face? I turn my head I move the mirror And in reflection I see you Against the mirror A mist of breath Mouth against mouth Breast against breast Eye meeting eye Hand against hand I moved the mirror I looked again In Reflection Does what I’ve done show in my face? I looked in the mirror I met myself and And in reflection I saw me And the bed that bore my weight was alone my bed The pillow that I pleaded over The wall I whispered words toward The sheets that sheltered over me Were mine And the only gaze to warm my face was the sun The only breath that brushed my skin was the wind The only salt that stung me, The arms that embraced me, The water that wet me was the sea And the only light that filled my eyes was the sky And the hair on my head, on my arms, On my chest, was mine The tongue that licked my lips That touched my teeth, That moved my mouth was my tongue And the fingers that felt, The teeth that teased, The mouth that moaned, all mine And when I awoke The eyes that met my eyes were my eyes The hand that held my hand was my hand The tears that cooled my cheek were my tears The blood on the bed only mine ©2004-2012 richardbolamat50.wordpress.com

Page 1: In Reflection

Now the bed that bears my weight is not only my bed

The pillow that I plead against

The wall I whisper words towardsThe sheets that shelter over me

Not only mine

The gaze that warms my face is not the sun

The breath that brushes my skin is not the windThe salt that stings me,

The arms that embrace,The water that wets me not the sea

And the light that fills my eyes not the sky

Now the hair on my head,

On my arms, on my chest, not just mine. The tongue that licks my lips,

That touches my teeth,

That moves my mouth is not my tongue.

The fingers that feel,The teeth that tease,

The mouth that moans not mine.

And when I awake

The eyes that meet my eyes are not my eyes,The hand that holds my hand, not my hand,

The tears that cool my cheek, not my tears

The blood on the bed not just mine

Does what I’ve done show in my face?I turn my head

I move the mirror

And in reflection I see you

Against the mirror

A mist of breath

Mouth against mouthBreast against breast

Eye meeting eyeHand against hand

I moved the mirror

I looked again

In Reflection

Does what I’ve done show in my face?I looked in the mirror

I met myself andAnd in reflection I saw me

And the bed that bore my weight was alone my bedThe pillow that I pleaded over

The wall I whispered words towardThe sheets that sheltered over me

Were mine

And the only gaze to warm my face was the sun

The only breath that brushed my skin was the windThe only salt that stung me,

The arms that embraced me,

The water that wet me was the seaAnd the only light that filled my eyes was the sky

And the hair on my head, on my arms,

On my chest, was mine

The tongue that licked my lipsThat touched my teeth,

That moved my mouth was my tongue

And the fingers that felt,

The teeth that teased,The mouth that moaned, all mine

And when I awoke

The eyes that met my eyes were my eyes

The hand that held my hand was my handThe tears that cooled my cheek were my tears

The blood on the bed only mine
