STRATEGY 2016

Defined interventionsAt the institutional level, we are talking about a total of 5 defined interventions: 1. Development of an UCN learning ap-proach2. Interdisciplinarity and flexibility 3. Training and IT4. Development of more value-added practice related 5. Practice-oriented research and devel-opment work

Trade parametersIn order to support the achievement of the priority areas of focus and efforts of UCN strategy 2015, we have built four underlying trade parameters, which will be included as an integral element of the strategy.

Realization of UCN strategy 2015 re-quires that we develop a transversal cul-ture, based on the mutual recognition of these basic trade patterns. The choice of the four trade patterns is the expression of a management priority and must thus support the achievement of the strategy, which is why they must be assessed as an essential element of UCN strategy 2015. Trade patterns must be respected as symbols of the desired future UCN culture of all managers, employees and students, and thus is involved in its own code of conduct and handlingsmæs-sige choices of the individual. It is the goal that the four operating parameters before the end of the strategy period are incorporated in UCN’s existing manage-ment code and value basis.

Vision 2020Where the Mission represents a particu-lar livelihood for UCN, so is the formula-tion of the Vision 2020 and UCN strategy 2015 expression of managerial priorities of strategic focus that will support a desired development of the institution in the years to come. The strategic focus, which is a priority for the coming period, exploded in the following sections and can be summarized in the figure below illustrative. As the figure shows, is that the strategy unfolded two strategic areas of focus:

- reality as a learning space - Practice synergy

The two focus areas are selected and for-mulated so that they support the desired direction expressed in Vision 2020; vision the goal of development of an agenda-setting institution with a strong profile. The strategic focus areas must be real-ized through a combination of;

- Strengthening and development of the institution’s services increased visibility of UCN’s activities, achievements and skills. - By extension, initiated a series of stra-tegic bets on both institutionally as local level, which should help sustain the two strategic areas of focus.

Page 10: In Partnership with University College of Northern Denmark

U N I V E R S I T Y C O L L E G E O F N O R T H E R N D E N M A R K | A A L B O R G - T H I S T E D - H J Ø R R I N G U C N @ U C N . D K | + 4 5 7 2 6 9 0 0 0 018 19

The four basic trade patternsCourage must be recognised and sup-ported in UCN. Because new thinking and innovation to create our future profile – and it happens only when the framework encourages curiosity, trials and experi-ments.UCN must recognise the activeness, so decisions are translated into action. Because we need the ability to create in a world and practice development frame-work which are changing continuously, and not always leaves room to establish a 100% secure facts-or process basis for action. UCN wants to increase visibility and create a clearer profile of what we stand for and of the qualities we represent in our educa-tion and knowledge. Because the world around us tells us that we already have many strengths in our profile and generate many good stories through our education, research and development work, but that these are too little-profile and visible in the media and in our communication with

external partners and therefore have not yet created the necessary founda-tion to realize our contribution to value creation in the professions and trades.

We will develop UCN by creating mean-ingful context; - internally between professional back-grounds and cultures in your organiza-tion – with respect for both the profes-sional diversity and of the need for joint efforts and UCN characteristics

- externally in relation to professions, occupations and other knowledge-development and education actors

Because diversity is UCN’s force if interdisciplinarity can be put into the game as a positive option that strengthens and supports education and profile – and UCN as an organiza-tion. It is therefore absolutely essential to students and partners experience an UCN, as abilities to apply its diversity as a positive value.

REFLECTIVE PRACTISE-BASED LEARNING

Through top-level applied methods and inspired teaching UCN wants to contribute towards a better society and a better region. We acquire new ideas and insights by learning and understanding from real life. Every day, we seek to better understand how people function in this world. Our slogan, ‘Real Life Education’, is more relevant today than it has ever been.

We develop and teach our students so that they are in a position to take on positions of responsibility in our society. We introduce them to the latest insights and challenge them to get the best out of themselves. Our students and employees form an international community that is eager to look beyond the borders of UCN boundaries. The fast growth and size of our university and our new inspiring campuses make for an open atmo-sphere in which everyone can feel involved.

University College of Northern Denmark attaches much value to the transfer of knowledge to society and the benefits of academic knowledge, as expressed in our various collaborative partnerships with businesses and social organizations.
