Background

Arizona has a proven comprehensive tobacco

control program: Adult prevalence of tobacco use significantly

decreased in three years: from 23.1% (1996) to 18.3% (1999).

Caveats: The tobacco cessation certification model is one

component of Arizona’s comprehensive tobacco education and prevention program.

Certification is contractually mandated for funded agencies/individuals providing cessation services.
