WORSHIP EACH SUNDAY AT 8:30, 9:45 and

11:00 AM WEDNESDAY Nights @ 6:40 pm

Dr. Mary John Dye; Senior Pastor, Rev. Joel Simpson and

Rev. Tony Moreau; Associate Pastors

Good news for Mt. Zion’s Senior Campus!

Senior Campus Co-chairs Barbara Broadway and Corinne Hendrix announced the

signing of a contract for the development of the Mt. Zion Senior Campus. The 8.4

acres of the Senior Campus property is under contract to be purchased and de-

veloped by New Homes of NC LLC, a partnership of Curt Needham and Wyatt

Clark, Jr.

The signing of the contract leads into a specified due diligence period for further

research for more specific plans which will be presented as they are available. As

Curt Needham shared with the congregation, the preliminary plan is for the first

stage of the development to be 24 one and two bedroom quadplex and duplex

units. The next development phase would be the building of a four story, 80 unit

building with apartment-style housing for independent living available. When the

housing is completed, it will be 104 homes available for sale for members for the

church and community.

The sale of the lots for housing will generate the income to fund the Senior

Ministry Center—a building on Mt. Zion property which will be owned and

operated by the church through the Senior Campus Board. They have many dreams

for the spiritual growth, education, fellowship and activities that can bless residents

on the Senior Campus, seniors at Mt. Zion, and in the community.

Signing the development contract is a very significant step in the vision becoming

a reality in the coming months. The Senior Campus Board has the authority for all

the decision-making for the Senior Campus – financial, policy, personnel and

program decisions. (The Senior Campus Board reports to the Building Committee

and, through that group, to the Administrative Board). Members of the Senior

Campus Board are Bob Allen, Ed Bost, Dora Dalmas, Tom Graham, Katy

Hollingsworth, Gil Millsaps and Sue Weaver. The Senior Campus Board is

chaired by Barbara Broadway and Corinne Hendrix.

They will keep the congregation posted as further information becomes available.

From the Sr. Campus Committee: We are committed to communication regard-

ing the future of the Sr. Campus. Please be assured that we will do our best to keep

you updated on the progress of the development. Exciting times are ahead and it is

important to the committee to share this excitement. Thank you for all your sup-

port and we ask for continued prayers and support as we move ahead.

Benefit Concerts for Warrior

Jace

On October 25, 2017, 4-year-old Jace Thompson, the son of Cornelius Police Captain Jennifer Thompson and North Carolina Highway Patrol Sergeant Eric Thompson, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive tumor near his brain stem. Due to the type of tumor, there are very few treatment options locally. The good news is that Jace has been ac-cepted into a clinical trial program in Washing-ton D.C. Jace and the Thompson family have a long road ahead of them and they are leaning

on their strong Christian faith and their Lord to lead them through this dark time in their life.

To show our love and support for the Thompson family, Heaven's Reign Quartet has scheduled two concert events to benefit Jace and his family. The concerts will take place in the Sanctuary on Friday, January 26th from 7 to 8:30 pm and Saturday, January 27th from 4 until 5:30 pm. A love offering will be collected at each concert with 100% of the proceeds going to Jace and the Thompson family to help them during this difficult time. We look forward to seeing you for this worthwhile event.

The next 6-week session of BABYGARTEN starts Wednesday, January 10th @ 10:00 a.m. and Saturday, January 13th @ 10:00 a.m. upstairs in the Education Building in Room #201. This program introduces songs, rhymes, reading and social interaction with others, and it is offered to parents/guardians and their children ages newborn through 2 years old. Enrollment for the 2018 – 2019 preschool year will begin January 24. Family Information Meetings for new families

will be held February 1st, 5th and 7th at 10:00 am in the church Sanctuary. Please contact the preschool office for

Giving praises to God and for the wonderful children and families of Sonshine Preschool. Through their love and

generosity, Sonshine Preschool was able to raise $673.47 to place into a special account for Warrior Jace. Jace is a

local now 4 year old who is battling a rare brain tumor. Jace’s mom is a police officer with the Cornelius Police

Department and his dad is a State trooper. We hope that with our collection, we have helped with the ongoing

financial needs of this precious family!

Sonshine Preschool’s January mission will be collecting Chap Stick and tooth brushes for the guests of Room in the

Inn. With this cold weather, we hope to make someone in need a little more comfortable.

The children of Sonshine Preschool will be enjoying “Hero Night” while honoring their Dads or significant other on

January 30. This is a special night to play games, enjoy food, create something secret and quality time together. We

love our heroes!
